 Can anyone tell me the angels of #4 & #6 Peco Turnouts. I am planning a new layout and Ineed some crossovers for a double-track "Y" the 2-#4's are at the top and the #6 is at the base. The cross-overs are the same angel as the turnouts. I forgot to say that this is in N-Scale Code 55 Track

    Welcome to TrainBoard, Woz! :)

Peco points (they are British afterall ;)) are not referred to as #x but as a size referring to the radius of the diverging track.

From memory, the diverging turnout radius for the medium is 18", and large 36". The 'Settrack' points are 9" (9 3/4"?) radius. The curved points are 36" main, 18" diverging.

    Hope this helps.

I seem to recall a thread not so long ago that mentioned newer Peco turnouts with straight frogs, but I don't know if they were HO or N, or what rail code.

What I am really interested in is what angel of crossover I need for a double track crossover in a "Y" config. The angel of the crossovers should be the same as the turnouts that create it.

Peco's crossovers are available in 10 deg. (long) for the large radius and 20 deg. (short) for the medium radius turnouts. The crossovers are designed to be used with the matching turnouts.

Are you trying to do a 'X' arrangement rather than a 'Y'?

Perhaps you could try to draw the configuration you're trying to set up?

By the way Gary, Thanks for the Welcome. I was in Ho a number of years ago and then out for a while. I have been back in the hobby for a couple of years and just dumped my first layout in n-scale and am starting on this one. It is an N-scale Version of a HO plan that I liked.

I was really hoping that this thread was going to help us to locate turnout angels who would protect against picking the points, stalling on frogs, etc. Imagine my disappointment . . .

I guess the Turnout Angels serve the Model Train Gods...

I guess so triplex, but I think I found what I want. I bought a Med Radius and drew it out for a protractor and got an angel of 10 deg. and the peco long crossing is that. The part about the radiuses was a help also, because it got me to change from a #4 or( short radius Peco) to a med radius because of my steam locos not making it on 9" rad. I haven't laid out the yard yet and I am wondering what its going to look like with all med rad . in it.
    Thoughts for now.

Nothing about turnouts from me but...That layout always drew my attention as a kid. I think it was just the way Atlas would have the layout rendered in a big two tone image. That engine facility also always got my juices flowing.

    Good luck building it.
