I have a SD70MAC that squeeks while its running. I was wondering how hard it would to oil the trucks on these and what else could I do to make it run smoother. Of course it did not help is has set in display case for 5 years. I just recently pulled it out to run exculsively for our Open Houses at my train club. and that probably all the running time it will see is twice a year. Thanks
Jason is right. I have a number of them in both HO and N and they only get limited run and basically I resorted to what you have done with yours. The HO ones, I only chance these on main with 60" radii to avoid a derailment or having to push start them. verse
Jason or anyone give me an Idea on how to do this. I am a little leary of trying to mess around with an expensive locomotive. Thanks
Well I don't own any brass, but with any plastic locomotive, you can take the bottom of the trucks off to reveal the gears so you can grease them. Additional gears may also be revealed by removing the locomotive shell.
Thanks for the help Jason. I guess I will take a closer look at it. From what I have saw these trucks are nothing like the plastic ones. It is kind of hard to explain. You have to see one.
