Here is a couple..... 913 (Still needs numberboards) 701 A pair of GP40-2s And a caboose to finish it off.
Jerry, who made those F units? I've been thinking about buying some Kato F7s and repainting them for the WP. I can finally add to this thread, and I'll start with a WP RDC-2 that I picked up from Chuck's a couple weeks ago:
Jerry, I haven't seen any Intermountain Fs in forever. I have a set of IM WP FTs in a box somewhere. I started detailing them and they never got finished. Here's a photo of my first WP unit, an Atlas GP7 and a couple of my early WP freight cars.
John everything is looking good. There was a write up in MR right after the RDCs came out on how to detail it for WP. Wish I had the issue still.
From all th epics I've looked at for the Zephyettes you should add number boards, similar to the FTs, and the barrel light to the front. I goofed on mine a little. I put the barrel on both ends. I made a barrel with clear styrene so it passed the light through it and so both doors have a whole in them. On the upside the rear glows red (not right either but plausible)
I'll get around to adding the number boards and barrel lights to my RDC-2 "someday", like everything else. lol I also have a Life-Like GP20 that I'd like to add a high nose to and paint for the WP. Again, someday. I haven't photographed them yet, but I have a bunch of WP GP35s and 40s. I'd love to get my hands on a WP U30B someday and I'm hoping Atlas makes their new ALCO S4 in WP colors.
Andrew, those are very cool! I've talked a lot about my Kato California Zephyr set and now, here's a pic!
The last WP unit I ever spotted was a GP20 (?) which had made it's way to Portland, Oregon. It was in that dark green. Now I can't think of the nickname folks used for the color. What was it?
When did the WP start being called the "Wobbly"? I've heard of the Wobble, Bobble, Turnover and Stop, but not WP Wobbly.
The name I’ve always seen associated with the green color used on WP locomotives in the 1970’s is “Perlman Green”, named for the president of WP at the time.
