Anyone know of an on-line source for railroad prints suitable for framing? I'm looking for one or two railroad prints (particularly steam locomotives) for a layout room or an office. The prints can be photos or artist work.

    Thanks

Denver Public Library archives provide a service whereby you can purchase prints from them. You can search their archive online till you find an image you like. :)

There's also a huge collection of photos available from the Library of Congress' American Memory collection. My favorites are those created during WWII as part of the Office of War Information work.

Thanks! Both sites have some good images (railroad and otherwise).

There is a gentleman on ebay occasionally under the ebay id "dlwartist" that does pencil drawings of railroad scenes. He sells both original work and lithos. I've purchased a few for my layout room that I modeled scenes from which make for a interesting conversation piece.

I searched and didn't see anything posted at the present time. If interested email me and I can give you more information.

You can also copy a photo then take it to a Blueprint Reproduction store and they can enlarge it to the size you want. They can print it out in color as well as black and white or sepia tone, then you can frame it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I've narrowed things down to several steamer images and posters.

Mrhedley, I've seen some prints from the gentleman you mentioned. I'm leaning toward larger prints - around 20"x24" or so.
