Did anyone ever find an exact prototype for those Atlas signals? Or are they a european product being remarketed by Atlas over here?

    Just curious.

    B&O Signals?

I've definitely seen those tri-color signals in the US (Ohio). Aren't they B&O prototype? The look nice

Wouldn't that just be ironic concidering the hub bub about their C55 track being American prototype tie spacing !

They look remarkably like Rock Island to me. I remember seeing signals like these in Kansas on the old Rock's Golden State Route (bought & rehabbed by Cotton Belt) and again along the former CRIP line from Tucumcari to Santa Rosa, NM. Yes, Virginia, CRIP owned the track from Tucumcari to Santa Rosa, but interchange between RI and SP was handled at Tucumcari. Those tri-color signals are still in use by UP today- I've seen 'em in use along the tracks driving on US54 between these two towns.

I'd say they're generic enough not to be pinned to a particular protoype. But I can almost guarantee they are not European - they can handle more than one indication at any time. ;)

    Thanks for the replies,
I was just curious because it doesn't look like any familiar products I have seen.

Anyone got any pics of any roads using these?

I'm off to google to see if I can find some. :)

I thought B&O was that, three across, three diagonal, and three vertical combo like Pennsy used. I'm no expert on either line, So please help me out here. :D

My mistake! I'd better stick with southern roads! The B&O used color position signals (two lights). Check out http://www.k8dti.com/cincy/bolima.htm

I'd thought the Grand Trunk line into Dayton, Ohio had been previously owned by B&O which doesn't appear to be the case. Here are the GTW (old NYC) lights which are similar to the Atlas signals: http://www.k8dti.com/cincy/nyccolumbus.htm. Look at the photo of Conrail COCI at Sharonville to see the signals.

Now back to North Carolina ;)

Yep, those are definitely RI prototype signals! Just like the ones along the line between Tucumcari and Santa Rosa (why UP hasn't removed 'em yet, God only knows)

Kinda limits their use, unless you're not a major nit-picker when it comes to signal heads. For freelancers, this setup should fit the bill.

I am not complaining, too much griping about products goes on. :p Yet from a marketing perspective, It sort of confuses me that they would pick such an odd prototype. One would think a more standard design would sell more.
