And here I thought I was the only one having trouble getting photos accepted over there. Seems to me their standards may be a bit out of whack, so I gave up.

    Congrats!

Leo, congratulations. I understand they are very critical and picky over there. I never tried. Good job. :teeth:

    Thanks all.

Really, I recomend you try and get your photos on there. I put it off for a long time. Their criteria is picky, some for good reasons, some seems rather arbitrary and well, stupid. In any event, it's one of the few opportunities for peer review. Having people tell you if your image is good or not, over time, will help you improve. Yes, it's a lot of rejects at first, but that's how we learn!

Nice going, that is an excellent picture.

I have posted there in the past, but they have become too quirky in the past year, or two.

We can do peer review here, and have done some in the past. The "Photography and Trains" forum would be a good place for peer review.

    Leo,
Wish I could agree with you about the reasons given as a way to improve but I can't. I managed to get 10 pics on that site and had twice as many rejected. For almost every reason one was rejected, I could show 5 or more pics on there site withe the same issue. Just seemed like a waste of time at that point. Having said that, I will say that I like the site and do enjoy looking at all the different pics.

I have almost given up on posting there...the ones they accept..and the ones they reject...who knows...guess it depends who is on duty going through the photo queue...

Here is one...I sent by accident....I meant to send a different image with a similar file name...but this image was accepted...a really dusty/dirty slide...and so many others I think are alot better...get rejected left/right...so much so I don't even bother anymore...

there IS a less-picky alternative for all those great shots

IIRC, RailImages.com isn't so picky on rail photos.............. :D

I won't give away their strict rules that determine whether a photo is accepted or not. But I'll give you a hint: there's a dart board in the room.

Funny though, if you have a famous name they'll take every one. I posted a shot a LOT like this one a while back, and mine was shot down. :eek:mg:

    RailPictures Picture Not Authorized?

Isn't RailPictures one of the sites that asks you not to post their pictures on other websites? Okay to link, but don't post the picture. OTOH, what if it is your own picture?

Anyway, I think they are one of those sites that request you not do that for bandwidth purposes. :)
