I'm not surprised you don't see very many out on the wrong coast, but they're still common out west. There's also a lot of WP boxcars with the big "WP" in place of the feather logo. There are also a quite a few MP cars in their original paint, and of course still lots of SP and CNW cars. I can't remember ever seeing a MKT car in original paint. Does anyone ever see any of these? edit: Only slightly off topic, BNSF still runs a lot of woodchip gondolas in their original NP and GN paint.
