Okay all you Frisco faithful, I just recently returned from a pilgramige to Monett Missouri and the Afton-Miami Oklahoma areas to check out anything that might be left of the Frisco and to just look around. I ran into several real nice guys at several different towns that had first hand experience of the Frisco and all had different tales to tell about the fate of the Museum and the Frisco archives. I heard so many rumours that i just needed to check here and see if anyone has any first hand information or any other rumours. I was told that the museum was closed and some of the artifacts had been sold and the rest were for sale. I also was told that there was a "theft" of the artifacts and it was someone from the museum board that did it. There were several other good ones but some of the facts I have substantiated from authorities in Springfield. Does anyone here know what is really going on or have any contact with someone from the board of directors that can post on here the true story? I would hate to see the archives be sold off or the museum just close forever. I usually don't take any stock in rumours, but when I heard these kinds of stories time and time again by total strangers then it made me think something might be wrong. All I want to know is the true story...so anyone know?

    Dale;

Did you see any of the discussions that took place on the e-mail reflector a couple of months ago?

    Hey Dale!

I don't know what's going on with the Frisco Museum. I paid my dues last year and have received not one letter, postcard, newsletter, or even a thank you note for supporting the museum. What gives? I dunno...

...But food for thought...With so little interest in the FRISCO in the modelling world, just how much was their in the real world, other than those gentlemen who actually ran the coonskin, and are still alive?

Personally, IM fed up with this country throwing its heritage away, just so someone can make or steal a buck! Kids don't know anything about our nations railroading history, because, quite frankly, nobody outside of the minority ( us ) gives a fart!

Steam built this nation! Men of the Rails laid the foundation of this nation economically! Steam, and even 1st and 2nd generation diesels are HERITAGE, not some lunk of iron and metal! The railroads of yesterday deserve to be preserved!

...Oh, IM sorry, its more important to spend 3 million dollars in Washington on the study of how CATTLE FARTS affect the ozone...pardon me....pfffft!

Damn it! Doesn't anyone care anymore?

I know, why don't we just all stand around and do nothing, since we all seem to be doing everything, and no one is paying to us any attention anyway...this way, when everyone says what happened, we can be the only happy ones since we accepted the loss a long time ago!

IM sorry boys, IM just fed up with losing everything that should matter to some degree.

I love the FRISCO. I love my country, and I appreciate what my elders have to give: THEIR LOVE, THEIR JOY, THEIR STORIES...BUT MOST OF ALL...THEMSELVES!

For you, I give my humble and hearty THANK YOU!

    For the rest:

Wake up America! Time to accept responsibility, and be held accountable!

    Okay, IM through....

Hello Charlie; Yes, I have seen a lot of information bandied about the last few months on the internet...but until I ran into these fellows I just figured it was internet gossip. I had problems with getting information from the museum and it didn't seem like anyone was in charge, so I figured I would ask here, thought maybe someone knew the REAL story. Hey, when you moving back to Kansas? Anyway, hope someone has more info on the museum; if they are having a sale on artifacts I want to be there with cash in hand. Does anyone know if they even put out the "ALL ABOARD" magazine anymore? Bye all.

Randy - I enjoyed your comments. [IMG]

Dale - I don't know when I will get back to Kansas. Since I am from there, I will be back. [IMG]

I wish we had the real info on the museum. When these things were recently questioned on the e-mail reflector, I made my feelings known. This fellow named Dan came on there and threatened legal action against some of us (I guess he meant me posibly???) for saying what I said. I really don't know but he was really angry that anyone dared to question the activities of the museum.

In spite of being a Frisco fanatic, I no longer belong the the museum (if it actually still exists.)

I received the latest "All Aboard" in December. Their web site is still alive and has the new membership dues system posted. The last update date is Jan. 1 2001. Thus I don't think the museum is closed, defunct etc.

Many stories abound about the museum, but Alan Schmitt uncategorically denies all of them. I have been in contact with members of the museum's board of directors and believe they are doing their best to maintain operations and get the museum back on track. Perhaps we should volunteer to help improve the museum with our labor and support.

    Charlie,
I remember reading ( and responding to )
this thread on the Frisco list some time back. The whole thing just about caused me to toss all my Frisco goodies in the trash out of disgust- I was that p***** off. I'd rather we didn't get into this again here...
For the record, I,m against lynch mobs acting on little to no facts. I'm also no longer a member of the museum, having let my membership lapse 4 years ago.
Lawyers don't need to be dragged into this.

And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

    Hopping off my soapbox now
