For those who may be interested, I have just put up an article written by Maurice Lewman about Hand Signals used on the Big Four/NYC in Indiana. This joins his work on Train Orders and the various Memory page article he has written. You can access this from my Railroads of Madison County web site at http://madisonrails.railfan.net/ Just take the Memory Pages link. Oh, he titled his article, "Communications (or how to railroad without a radio)"
Roger, that was very interesting. Can you convince Maurice to sign up with us, especially now that Railroad.net, where his favorite NYC forum was located, is off line? The NYC forum here has been too quiet lately and Maurice's stories would sure pep it up. Thanks.
Maurice was on here, but he works from WebTV and couldn't get the forum to accept his posts or replies.
Roger, he sent me an email and I answered it, and didn't know he was having problems. Let me look into it.
Fitz, Maurice did email our support and I posted a topic asking for help in finding a solution but to no avail.
Gentlemen: I am writing a history of the Cincinnati Northern, which as you all know was a part of the Big Four. I would appreciate any help you might give for this project. As you stated, the NYC forum has been down for an unknown reason for ages. FYI in the late 40's the H6a's on the CN were numbered in the 1700 series.
I know this excuse has been overused, but I was raised on the Mohawk Division and know nothing about the Big Four. You might try the railnet forum, which as of this week is back on line, though it's appearance is quite different and apparently the old stuff was all lost. A tragedy.
