Priceless, with the fiasco that is taking place in the political circles in this province!

Anyway, My son and I are also huge BCR fans. There is still alot of rolling stock running around the Vancouver and Surrey area. Sometimes we will take a day and just drive around to the various rail yards and watch for them. We are also modelling BCR both the new and old paint scheme. I like the green best, but both are cool.

We also just bought a BC hydro SW9/1200 Switcher. here's one on ebay...

If I am not mistaken, I think that BC Rail was born out of BC hydro was it not? We also have a couple Weyerhouser and Macmillan Bloedel gondolas.

BC Rail was a name evolution from British Columbia Railway.

BC Hydro, or more completely, the British Columbia Hydro & Power Authority, (1962 and later), came from the old British Columbia Electric RY. BCH&PA, (since 1988), became the Southern RY of British Columbia.

Sorry to disappoint you, but you are mistaken. BC Rail is the former Pacific Great Eastern(not counting the Port Sub), renamed British Columbia Railway in 1972 and BC Rail in the mid 80's. The BC Rail trackage except for the Port Sub is now part of the CN BC North and BC South divisions.

BC Hydro Rail was the old BC Electric Railway and is now the Southern Railway of British Columbia, operated by Washington Corp.

Did your grandpa ever share any interesting tales about his work experiences?

For the BCR fans, highballing through Squamish on a northbound freight with BCOL 4644, 4621 and 4602 for power. Power on the left was for the 571 that would depart later.

Wow. That recently? I am happy to know there was still a bit of BCR on BCR home rails. Are those units still around?

The power is still on the roster, but wandering the CN system. We see mostly CN power now.

Tyler, when do the daily trains go through the Lillooet area? I will be there in a few months and was wondering if I would be able to catch anything in the area (especially along Seton Lake).

I am watching my Pentrex BC Rail video again. I love the scenery, the green scheme with the dogwood, the GE and Alco units, and the RDCs.

    Hey steve,

The northbound can get into Lillooet any time between 06:30 and 14:30, the southbound anytime between 10:00 and 20:00. The Mons(Whistler) turn goes to work anytime between 06:00 and 14:00. That's about it, the Lillooet yard was cancelled when the Ainsworth mill shut down last spring, and the only yard job in the Lillooet terminal is the Exeter yard at 100 Mile House.

A long way from home on the old Algoma Central, WC 2003, ex-Algoma Central 202 at 100 Mile House, my engine for the 2 weeks I worked the Exeter yard at 100 Mile House, on the old BCR Lillooet Sub.

How about a video of the PGE Vancouver-Squamish inaugural run in August 1956? I assume PGE was the predecessor of BCR?
