Thought I would try posting a pic of some former lease units that are now CSX units. Okay, I'm having trouble with getting the picture to show but the link works. CSX4690 [ 17. April 2004, 15:07: Message edited by: BNSF FAN ]
Great shot Richard! I am not sure why you photo does not appear, may just be a temporary issue... I like that paint scheme Aren't these some of the units that CSX picked up in that big trade / order with EMD that sent a bunch of their old units away to the lease fleet? Harold
Thanks for the comments guys. Chessie, yes, those are some of the units CSX picked up in that trade deal. Any tips on what I may have done wrong while trying to post the pic?
I just figured it out.... you posted the album name and not the "image" name, which is always .jpg This should be your picture: Harold
I have to agree, those are pretty units. Maybe I'll catch them in Cumberland some day! I did get to see something the other day I always wanted to see in person..a diesel with the old Empire Builder colors. Thanks to Helm Leasing, we saw this pretty lady. It was with two CSX units, hauling an autorack train toward Sand Patch. Ed
Great picture, Ed! I caught a similar unit in Hamlet a couple of months ago.... beats all of the Green & White HLCX SD40-2's I have been seeing on CSX Harold
Amen. The Green Weenies must be destroyed at any cost... Wait a minute, if they are in the Helm fleet they will self-destruct in no time anyway. (They are not labled "Trailing Unit Only" for nothing!) I don't know if I can wait that long, though...
You mean like this green monster that was dead on the point of a southbound autorack train!!! This train had stalled and was being pushed by more lease units from the following train.
Monster? No, that's a Green Weenie, I'm afraid. On Friday morning Q635 (Which is a junk train by any stretch of the imagination...) was dead on the main next to the Harpster siding south of Upper Sandusky. A Helm SD40-2, it's only unit (!), died. An empty revenue train from Chicago (I want to say it was T927, but I don't think that's right...) had to leave its trailing unit which thankfully was pointed the right way and take the dead Helm unit south with it. Cool sight to see and got some great audio, too.
Sorry I missed replying to this one. Guess it slipped my mind! Great shot, Ed! Always nice to see a railfan working with the light for a change! -B
The Helm exBN 40-2 are lead units all the time in the PacNW. Maybe BNSF is getting the better units (or since they were originally theirs just keeping the best units on their rails)
We see leasers on the point a lot around Atlanta. Brian, I had to go with the monster thing. I like seeing these units as living in the southeast, I never got to see a lot of BN colors here.
