Here are some photos that i took recently, i figured i would share them hope you like them here are 2 older electric multiple units at roma street station in brisbane city. a few seconds later and one of the EMU's is departing. another couple of seconds later, and the train is about to head into the tunnel under the city.
here is a long distance passenger train waiting in the station, im not sure which one it is... probably the sunlander or something. again, from the real conveniently located walk way above the station in the roma steet parklands. a platform level view
a diesel hauling what i think is a drovers wagon thru the station... thats all it was hauling. an older intercity express set, man do those poles get in the way a newer electric pasender train... these are called smu;s for some reason. or at least thats what is says on them.
air port train running express along the dual gauge line. electric hauled container train at sherwood, i was sitting on the ground against a wall when this thing crept past me, so thats where i took the photo of it from. containers....
the westlander long distance passenger service heading in towards brisbane. notice how the weather has changed since the earlier shots... this is about 2 hours later. same train. behind me is the XXXX beer brewery in milton. if its not poles getting in the way its QR workers last one. the end of the westlander.
A good mix of trains Steve. The container train looks interesting, with tank containers mixed in. The locomotive on the Westlander is not very streamlined for passenger trains, looks more like a freight locomotive The one on the containers looks more suitable for passenger trains. Are they used for both types of train?
Alan, the westlander goes out west, obviously, but the electric line only goes out as far as a town called rosewood so diesels have to be used on that train, these type are used for passenger and freight, and so are the electric locos, the one on the long distance passenger train and the container train are the same class of loco. the diesel loco on the westlander is a 2300 class, they are really common around these parts and ive been trying really hard to get a photo of a different class or at least one in the old blue paint.
Awesome shots! I've gotta start saving my pennies and think about making a trip to Aus. someday (after that unpleasantness in the Mideast calms down). Your pictures are great!
Great Pics Steve I will have to take some pics next time i'm out on track. Bob, If you ever come to Australia let me know and I will do my best to meet you while you are in Sydney
Thanks Steve. Great shots. We don't get to see many photos of Aussie trains over here. They rarely seem to be covered by the magazines John.
Im debating with myself weather or not to go out with my last $10 and take more photos. paul i would love to see some pictures from you, or anyone else for that matter
Great pics Steve. Thanks for posting them. It's always fun to look at photos from other places. I don't often get to see pictures of places not covered with 3 feet of snow. Charlie
