What a beautiful sight. It is not often we get a chance to see the old Chicago & North Western colors around here since UP came to town. Today, three C&NW engines (one of which looked more like a yard engine than a – too far to tell and could not see any numbers) were heading due west out of Chicago with a full load behind them. The only down side was a relatively new CSX engine which was bundled with the rest (no offence to you CSX fans ). I just wonder where they are headed and if this is to be the last run they make? It brought back memories of sitting at the old station here in town and watching the C&NW roll by as it headed out to Rochelle, and who knows from there. Now the old station has been torn down and rebuilt. Now it is the last stop on the Metra line and UP (with the occasional SP or even NS) engines abound. But occasionally we get to see one of the ‘old’ ones…
I Know! I kicked my self for not having a camera with me that day. I have been telling my self that I should keep at the very least one of those small point and shoot cameras in my desk for the odd chance I get to go out to the tracks during a break from work.
