Anyone have any good pics of Amtrak 450 and 451? These were the two AC locos Amtrak tired from Seimens to pull the ICE train nad then they did some work until scrapped in either 1999 or 2000.
The Amtrak photo archive has a few: http://www.hebners.net/amtrak/ The proper index page appears to be missing, but a quick bit of guesswork turned up the following list of images (some are thumbnails): http://hebners.net/amtrak/amtf69/ http://www.railpictures.net/ has the following: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=97565 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=91639 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=86205 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=79900 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=75771 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=33920 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=5493
Thanks for those links. But I was wondering if anyone had any pics that werent on the internet or not well known on the web. This loco is hard to find good pics of.
I believe that Diesel Era magazine ran an article on this loco in the past... if so, that would be a good resource. Harold
I have kicked myself over and over for not having taken a picture of these engines when they came thru on the Pioneer. Don't remeber the date but we had them roundtrip from Pendleton to Seattle and back. They were such a different engine compared to the F-40's we ran with. Funny desk top control pannel and fancy big springee comfortable seats. Which are both now standard to us on our units today. Also remember the front dashboard, there was alot of space under that front window. Very fun to run.
