Wow, I am sorry that I missed this when you first posted it Johnny. That is a cool pic. Looks to be a MOW train with the MU car in the front being used to repair catenary. (Of course, this is just a guess based upon the people "elevators" on the roof)
    Thanks for sharing !

You are indeed correct. This is a Cat. maint. outfit. They are self powered and can found anywhere on the NEC where there is a need for Cat. repair.

I was wondering if that car may have been one of the DL&W MU's from Hoboken but I think the roof is different. Maybe something left over from the Pennsy? Must have been a MOW car for a long long time.

My bet is that it's a remake of a Pennsy MU commuter combine ....

    1) It's hauling PC gons in late NYC green. (I think NYC only had catenary through CUT.)

    2) It's roof is nearly flat with rounded edges like the MU commuter locals that ran west on the Mainline out of Philly's Broad Street Station.

    3) Some of the Pennsy MU cars had square motorman windows either side of the door.

    4) I don't think DL&W was ever part of PC.
