Maybe you can use that camera to put a video stream of the layout, in operation, on the 'Net! That would be interesting.

Yep,that would be kinda cool, although it would also force me to scenic the area LOL
I just got my backdrops from www.realisticbackgrounds.com
They are excellant and I am impressed that they put out such a nice product so reasonable.9.98 for a 13"x38" background.I ordered 9 of them.2 city scenes,4 industrial,2 wooded hills, and a wooded hill with village.Excellant for those of us who are artictically challenged. :D
Also, with the scenes i will be forced to bring my center section out just a little more than i had planned.while this really wont affect my trackplan at all, it will make maintenance easier and allow an even larger hidden staging area.Today is Bonus day i guess [IMG]

I have roughed in(dry laid) my center section and am pleased with the way it is going to work. And i dint even have to use the Cad program [IMG] .Sorry guys no pics although i may be able to get a sketch up later on.I have my first control panel built and am ready to actuall wire the main yard area as i continue to lay my track to the east ore penninsula.I am going to wire for cab control and 2 cabs.I will set this up for 2 power sectors and 2 control panels.
Any thoughts or opinions on how and where to break this Up?Considering that i will have only 2 cabs at present and may eventually go to DCC.I am thinking of using less blocks than one may normally consider.Thoughts on this??The wiring portion will be the area of this hobby that i feel i am at my weakest.Although i expect to be a pro solderer by the time i am through ;)

Todd, once again sorry to not have finished up, but I hope you came up with something good. I have been swamped since late spring (no time to work on my stuff either). Anyway, I'll chime in on electronics, as that is my other strongpoint.

Yard: I assume from the fact you built a control panel, you have this figured out. If not, then I'll post later on that.

You need a block for the wye.

I would have a couple of long mainline stretches, and include stub-sidings. The Ore Yard on the peninsula as well as the mine itself should both probably be on separate blocks so trains can work there without tying up the mainline block.

If you have a center industrial section, make that a seperate block too.

Block each of your staging tracks so you can park trains on them.

Those are my thoughts for now (except to just go DCC to start. 3 bucks a switch x 50 switches is 150 bucks = Digitrax zephyr system).

Hey Corey, nice to see ya (sort of ) No need to apologize, you put in alot of time on this thing already and you gotta have a life .You got me a great start, damn, almost the whole thing .I think you'll like where i went with the center section including the hidden staging area.I decided against the grades as it wouldnt have amounte to enough to matter much.i will do some scenicking to make up for this.
The more i think on the wiring, the more i think od just going DCC.If i do this, does that mean i eliminate all the block toggles??
Also, after installing a couple ground throws,i'm not too happy with the look so am considering going to a Delaire system for TO operation.this is going to add up but i think it will be a reliable system and cost is similar to tortoises etc.I may have to do this in stages though.
How about the Atlas Commander system.I hear its made by Lenz. Its fairly inexpensive and sposed to be better than Model rectifiers offerings.Digitrax ,is that what you reccomend??
Glad to see you around anyways,i'll try to post a sketch of the center section soon.
    Is Railimages up??

Well heres an update. Ive been holding as Corey thought my center section needed a couple changes for operational interest. He was going to get back to me with his ideas as soon as he gets a chance. With school just starting though i'm sure it will be a bit before he gets settled into a routine and has a bit of time.In the meantime i have been working on my backdrop and ore penninsula section although i have to admit ive ben slacking a bit lately trying to get in a few fishing days before winter hits.Well thats it.i'll post again when ive made more progress. Still havent heard from Cory on the proposed changes to the middle section.Ive got some time off for a couple weeks so i am going to go back over this section and refresh myself with JA's realistic trackplanning book.I would like to complete my trackwork in the next week or so and waiting for cory is no longer an option.Perhaps Coaltrain can give me an opinion on this middle section. If you think you would have a moment Coaltrain, let me know and i'll see if i can repost the pictures that went down after railimages hiccoughed [IMG]
