Ok, appearently I've been asleep at the switch. Just noticed that there are new units of this type in the 55xx series. What gives?? I know they are not GEVOs, which I thought would take up the rest of the 56xx series and down . Anybody got roster info on this series. Where do they start and stop? Maybe SlimJim can help??
John, it gets to be a big puzzel . All of the C44AC's that are new are CTE equiped and they are adding it to all the earlier ones. It is just software. As a note, the GEVO's are called C45ACCTE's. Most of the info is in pages in the index below. The updated units (to CTE) are listed in the monthly renumber pages. UP Index
Hey Slimjim, Thanks for all the great info you keep up on on your site!!!!! I reference it quite often. I definately understand the whole CTE thing and the software updates they are doing and such. What I really want to know is what number series the new units will be??? 55??-????. Thanks for any help you can provide.
I thought I saw a 70## series with the ACCTE added to the classification. The GEVO units have congrigated in Roseville, as I saw #5697, 5698 and 5699 in Sparks last week. In fact we used 5697 as a switcher to remove three private coaches off Amtrak #6 Friday. Greg
The complete series for the C44ACCTE's is UP 5700 to UP 6099 so far. The latest ones out as of July 31st are UP 6078, 6080, 6081.
Thanks guys. Actually finally caught my first GEVO unit in Roseville the other day. (about time!!) The units I'm asking about are in the 55xx-5??? series. Just saw pics of two different units in this new series and they were supposedly AC4400s of some sort. Anybody got any idea what this new series is and what numbers they'll be using??? Also, are they going to fill in the gap between 6099 and 6148? Thanks for your help!
You'll never guess where these GEVO's were last week! The location is no less than the old B&O's "West End", coal hauling territory, and the home of a few infamous grades, including 17 mile. These units are right next to "Z" tower, which CSX now calls West Keyser. A long way from Wyoming, this is West Virginia. Ed
I think your right on the 70## series. From what I could decern from video (UP Triple track DVD) looks to me like UP has ac44cctce's numbered in the 7240-7286 range.
