What do I have?

I acquired a diesel locomotive with the New Haven red, white & blue color scheme. It has the number 370 on the side of the cab and 9506 in the lighted number area. Sorry that I don't know the official terminology as I am still a newbie. On the underside are some markings including: alm, tempo and IZOLA.

Can anyone tell me what I have and also where I might look for more uinfo about it?

    Thank you,

    David

Can't tell you exactly what you have, but I did find a shot of "372". I am not a New Haven person, but I'd bet dollars to donuts # "370 had to have been close to "372"... atleast in the real world of the New Haven.

Does your engine look anything like the one linked?

    El Linko to #372

Kitbash is correct in that the New Haven beginning in 1955 purchased 10 Class EP-5s starting with road number 370. They were AC-DC pantagraph electrics that ran primarily from and to New Haven, CT and Grand Central Terminal. You may have a home made kit-bashed version where the owner didn't complete the renumbering.

Well, the color scheme looks like #370 although the nose looks more like the one on the left with the placement of the lighted, running numbers, the shape of the front windows (they turn downward to the outside) and the 2 handrails in front. Also, the side windows are different. I wish there was a side view of the one on the left.

Does the one on the left have a pantograph also? Mine does not, but it has a couple of holes in the top just forward of the fans. I suppose that could be where a pantograph might mount.

I checked the rest of that sight but couldn't find anything that looked like it. I checked Google for pictures of an EP-4, but the EP-4 is a 'double ender' and mine is squared off in the rear.

Anyway, I wonder who made the original kit.

    Thanks for the input,

    David

    Hello,
You asked "who made the original kit", so I assume you are speaking of the model. Could "alm" be AHM? "Tempo", I believe, was a company in Hong Kong. AHM marketed products from them, although I don't remember electrics. "Izola" sounds Eastern European. I can't explain that.

I'm sorry, I omitted the country. It was apparently mfd in Yugoslavia. It is, definitely, "alm" (lower case), "tempo" (lower case and "IZOLA" (upper case).

    Thank you,

    David

OK, AHM did import much from Yugoslavia. I believe IHC succeeded AHM, they have continued importing most of their steamers from that country. Others importing from there are Life Like, Pemco(?), but by far it was IHC/AHM. There may have been electrics in their products. You might try sending an email to IHC (International Hobby Corp) and asking them your question.

    David,
Also Tyco may have marketed Yugo items.

I have some pictures that I could upload, but I've not been able to find any place or instructions to do so. How does one go about posting pictures?

    Thank you,

David, there's an orange button located on the bottom of Trainboard.coms' front page. Click on it for instructions how to get registered with your user name and a password. If you need further assistance with it afterward, just contact us in the RailImages thread in the first section of the listed threads page. Have fun! [IMG]

    WOW!!! I'm impressed. It worked!

So, now, maybe there can be some more definitive information forthcoming.

    Thank you,

David, If you want to show larger photos, click on the photo in your album and a larger image will appear. Right click on the large photo and then click on 'properties'. When the properties window opens, copy the http:// url of the photo and paste it in the box for replies of the thread you wish to show it in... just like you did with the smaller images. [IMG]

If I do that, they take up a good portion of space. Is there a way to click on the thumbnail & be directed to, or open up the larger image in RailImages?

    Thank you,

    David,
Am I halluciniating, or have we gotten completely away from your original question? While how to post pics on this forum is very valuable info, I don't believe it answers your question. I believe you have an F-M "C Liner". Considering where this is from, I would consider it an entry level quality model
