Long time HO modeler here and am running the new MRC Prodigy Advance DCC System. [IMG] Since I am new to DCC I am really enjoying all it has to offer compared to DC operation.

My current layout is a work in progress and has a long way to go... but the benchwork is done and the track is laid and trains are running which was my goal to end 2004.

Hopefully I will have the scenery done by the end of this year. :D

    Regards,

Welcome aboard and let me know if you still have a "thumbs up" for the Prodigy Advance after you have used it for a while. I am seriously thinking of making the plunge into DCC myself. I am thinking of purchasing the unit from Tony's Train Exchange along with another handheld and the 5 amp power supply wired for the Prodigy Advance. Where did you get yours?

Hello and welcome. This is an excellent site. Whenever I have to research something, I have learned to "search" this site for past posts or threads and more often than not, I will get some ideas.

As Boxcab says... post some pictures! Always inspiring to see what others are up to.

I got my DCC System from Tony's Train Exchange (great person Tony) along with 2 Lenz LS150's and one of his reversing modules (which works great).

When you go to reply, you have the UBB code link hot buttons. To upload an image to this forum, just hit the "image" button, and paste in the "properties" location from whatever pict' you want to show.

ALSO.. I strongly suggest you get a page on "RailImages". There are links to "RailImages" from this site.

Here is your layout....... from the link you gave.

That looks like a fun layout. Just one odd question for you though. How come no cabooses bringing up the back end of your trains? I am just curious. Not critical. [IMG]

Bob, welcome to Trainboard. Looks like a fun layout to me, too. I like multi-level layouts, but don't have space for it on my new one.

Keep us up to date with progress pics. [IMG]

    Good questions all,

There are no cabooses because they are packed away in a box that I have not opened up yet :D and some need converted to kadee couplers.

The layout is 10 X 10 X 5 and is 2 ft deep at most places except in the corners and at the turns.

It is a fun layout with 2 automatic reversing loops so I can turn trains around until the cows come home. (Oh... shoot they are home)

Thanks to all who explained how to post pictures here.

    Regards,

    I like using household items to come up with interesting scenery...here is a sample;

I was playing around with a couple of ideas last weekend and here are the results.

First I used wooden coffee stirrers cut to fence scale height and made a couple of fences out of them. I used elmers white glue and used a long stirrer behind all the smaller planks. Then I used round toothpicks as uprights to hold up the fence. I drilled a small hole in my benchwork and insert the toothpicks. Since they are tappered they all go in to the same depth. Then I glue the fence to the toothpicks and clamp with clothes pins until dry. I can then remove the entire assembly and add additional glue for a sturdier bond.

Second I used screen porch plastic screen to make a different kind of fence. As you can tell by the pictures I again used toothpicks for my posts and staggered them. Not a bad result for using items I had around the house.

Keep in mind I still have to stain and weather the posts, wooden fence and I will probably spray the black fencing silver and add some rust and corrosion.

    Here are some pictures :D
