Does anyone know of a place where I can get information on scheduled freight trains ?. I'm specially interested in the schedule for the UP line running through Chatsworth - Simi Valley, CA, area since this is a route with little traffic (sometimes 5-10 trains a day, sometimes almost none). This weekend I went to the tunnel in Chatsworth, but unfortunately there was a train when I parked my car at the park, a of course no trains while I was waiting at the tunnel, so I was thinking that maybe it's possible to find some kind of schedule somewhere on the net, but I haven't been able to, so please, if anyone knows of a place to look, I would appreciate it. Thanks Jesper
Hi, Most info I've ever received is from word of mouth from other local railfans. I work for a class 1 railroad and we have received orders to notify police if anyone comes around asking questions regarding train times or location of operation centers - this is a result of course of 9/11 - so you better watch out on who/what you ask of rr employees.
I have seen postings from railroaders on the Train Order board (Western Board) about movements along the coast route etc...I presume the info comes from their internal system, which they intern post online. I hope that helps. Mike Cassidy Santa Clarita
Jesper, Have you tried asking the guys in the Santa Susana HO Club? They might have some info for you. Just don't tell them you're an nscaler! Just kidding, the folks I've met there are actually kind of nice. 3 more days til GATS! Dan
Dan, that's actually a good idea. Why didn't I think of that . I will ask them next time I go there (it happens once every other month or so). Jesper
