Yes it's Friday again but with the Holidays this weekend will we get anything done? I am not making any specific plans, too many other activities, but I will try to do some operating in between them. Have a great Holiday weekend. No using fireworks for blasting out tunnels and rock cuts
I have a LOT of windows to install in my carshop and engine shop, and I need to highlight the molded frames. Not sur eif I want to use a wash (which would be quickest) or use a sharpie pen and a lot of patience. I don't want to leave them plain , I think that may look cheezy. Either way will be time consuming, but it's actually the decision proccess that makes it take so long!
No plans. Vacation is coming next week and I am out of supplies. When I get back I need to hit the LHS for, Kadee #5 couplers, Kadee washers, weights, metal wheels, detail parts for various dioramas........ I do plan on trying to update my website.
I will probably try to work on some scenery and start building a small sawmill. If I'm really lucky, I might finish building a log car.
If it don't rain, I'll continue to dig in the garden. Last month hasn't been to good. Promised my self to do all digging, cabling and tracks in two months. Half time now, may be 15% completed.
I have $300 worth of lumber being delivered tomorrow. This is the material for the bench work for my new S Scale layout. I intend to start building the "tables" over the 3 day weekend.
mY PLANS FOR TONIGHT WHEN i GET off of work is to install the two under the table atlas snap switches. I have installed 6 so far. I have converted them from the table top ones I had. I am trying to go for the realistic look and to do so will require this. Unfortunately I cannot change all 17 switches due to being close to the edge where the 2x4 underneath blocks instalation and one on a riser so i will only be able to convert 7 more for a total of 13 out of 17. They are pretty easy to do too. I had a rough time on the first one but figured out a much easier way. I drill down to mark the spot and then drill up fast at first then once I get about 3/4 of the way through I get slower. Takes me about 20 minutes per switch. I will also do some scenery work this weekend.
I've been working on a long trestle for a long time (since February!), and I finally got it installed and wired this week. Hopefully this weekend I'll put down the track to loop it in to the other side of the layout, laying the first track for the additional staging yard! Dave
Of course I run out of tracks today. To many curved track changes. I replaced from previous year test layout some curves. Previous was 2390mm (94") radius they are now changed to 4640mm (182"). Most digging completed. Now I have to wait for the shop open in Tuesday. Isn't this typical.
I hope to finish the last 10 feet of rockstacking, on the outside loop of the addition. Then I can put down the roadbed and pack/level it, and begin to put track down
