I have a butt ugly Tyco caboose with the slanted (flat topped pyramid shape) cupola decorated in Rock Island red & yellow. Before I drop it in the can does anyone know of a railroad that actually used a caboose like this? I would rather redecorate it than can it.
Try looking at this information CAPTIVE CABOOSES FROM THE ROCK ISLAND LINE No images but maybe it might help.
If it's the one i'm thinking of, it's a Pennsy N8 caboose, but for some reason they moved the cupola to the end on the model and swapped the windows around. These also worked for PC, CR and ICG, pic of one in PC green here: http://pc.smellycat.com/pics/equip/pc23204.jpg Wabash (went to Ann Arbor and N&W), Great Northern and Burlington (went to BN) all had cabeese with streamlined cupola's, but none of these look that much like they Tyco one either IMHO, (although Bachmann do one that's a recognisable replica of the Burlington one, a bit clunky and crude, but recognisable!) Bowser have just done a 'proper' N8 if you really wanted one...
Thanks Martyn, thats the one. I'll dig around in the ICG stuff for pictures since I do ICG in addition to the Rock Island.
