That now-detroyed, prize loco that bounced off the cement floor could be another man's treasure! Like I could sure use a cab, shell and or trucks off a damaged Kato SD80 or 90MAC for a kitbash project. I know These can be ordered from the factory (maybe), but perhaps a scrapyard forum would allow those who took the loss to recover some costs, and those of us seeking parts to find what we need. Any thoughts on this? Stupid idea?

I thought about the yellow pages section, as Paul suggests, but this forum concept would keep those looking for regular items from having to wade through all the (s)crap ;) , and vice versa (I guess there's not too much going on in there right now...maybe it's not an issue). Nice to hear from others who support the concept. Craig, do you have any 80 or 90MAC parts?

The 'Scrapyard' forum is a good one.
That auction web site must be new as there's no listings in any of the categorys.
Craig.. See if you have any Atlas GP40 or GP40-2 shell assemblys for me.

    2slim :D

That's not stupid at all, This would be a great idea, all of us are looking for parts. specally OUT OF PRODUCTION, hate them words. I'm looking for a long shaft kato n-scale motor that only came out in their first production GP-38. cant find that on anywhere. if anyone knows of one of these E-mail me at caboosejumper@yahoo.com. Parts are hard to come by and a junkyard forum would be great. think of the kit bashing part a guy could get. I have a railroad yard and would like to get a couple of old UPRR shells to make it look like they are working on them in my yard.... so let's do it.

2slim, I have a few GP40-2 shells that are heavily detailed and are just good for scrap parts, but can get you brand new GP40-2 shells for I think $10, undec.

    Hey guys,
I have just about everything that people are asking for in this post except the MAC parts. See my listing in the yellow pages posting. I have been looking for an outlet for all my spare parts. I am not a dealer, just a fellow modeler looking for the parts that I need. I have a large collection of shells, chassis and parts that I like to trade rather than sell.
How do we get a "scrapyard" site going?

firstly I have moved this topic to The Inspection Pit to allow all modellers to see this topic. There does seem to be a lot of positive posts about a scrapyard forum.

BTW does anybody have a motor for a KATO GP38-2 :D

I can see this getting ALOT of traffic! And ALOT of contributions to add to it! I'd like to see a "Scrap Yard" Forum started I'm for it guys...

BTW, Anyone have any Rivarossi Commonwealth 3 axle, 6 wheel trucks? And Also a Rivarossi 2-8-8-0 front pilot truck? Not the one with the frmae but the one that shows the full wheel... Like the B&O EL-5 Rivarossi number 5400? Post if so. I'll trade something or buy if I have too! :D

Guys, it would also save confusion to always mention the SCALE, because I might have one, in HO but you need one for N scale, see?
