Well now, I have been a freelancer all of my life [IMG] ( if you want to see my last layout, go to: http://www.jstrainstation.homestead.com
for very freelanced work). That is until I started the new N scale layout, chosen by my 4-year-old [IMG]. So far it appears that it will be freelanced in terms of a mythical branch of the Santa Fe, southwest of Albuquerque, NM in the late 50's or early 60's. But this layout has a hitch. Since it is Santa Fe based, I have started researching engine types, rolling stock, and even station styles used in NM. Wow, what a lot of fun [IMG] [IMG]!! So I guess now I am a Prototype Freelancer!! Happy Modeling!!

None that I can see [IMG] [IMG] !! Its just that for so many years I AVOIDED anything prototypical because I thought it was "too restricting." I guess in loosely following old Colorado railroads I was kind of prototypical, but not really. This seems to be LESS restrictive for some odd reason...I don't know!! Happy Modeling!!

Just another element to keep this hobby interesting. So many locos are available in the railroad of your choice. It makes it easier than repainting a loco in your free lance colours. Once you have a varied collection, you can always have interchanges to keep life interesting.
    Just do it YOUR way.

    No more repainting....

That's why I changed the color scheme on the Augsburg and Concord to match the PRR Brunswick Green.

All I need to do is remove the Keystones and add my decals. Instant home road locomotive!

As my railroad, InterWest Railway System (IWRS) is a conglomeration of many railroads, my paint scheme is simple:
    Dark Grey
    Black Trucks/Underframe/Fuel Tank
    Red Lettering
Basically, it looks like KCS's current scheme.
IWRS is comprised of the following reporting marks and railroads (in order of acquisition):
    NWP-NorthWestern Pacific
    -California Northern
    KCS-Kansas City Southern
    SP -Southern Pacific
    DRGW-Denver Rio Grande and Western
    CR-Conrail
CP-Canadian Pacific (currently waiting for Canadian approval, expected Early 2001)
IWRS also operates the Beachcomber commuter rail service, and is a majority shareholder in Bombardier West.
My layout is set in the Arcata Bay region of Northern California, in a freelanced city called Galbraith City (after my grandmother). All the other cities will be somewhat true to prototype, altho considerably enlarged.
A history of IWRS up to present time is currently in the works, and will be posted as soon as I finish it (whenever that is [IMG] ).
