Here is some of my weekends work.
I got the foam flooring in the train room.
Put in about 80 sq ft. Man it's nice to stand on! Lowe's for about $85.00.

Fair warning, where I used to work, we had a similar type of flooring. It had a tendancy to bubble when it got humid, so you may want to think about that.

This is a question on my part, but does the stuff you bought flex much when weight is put on it? Meaning, are you going to have to shim your layout to keep it level?

McC , It is only in the isle ways , not under the layout legs. It is the same florring used in daycares and Gymnastics schools around the country. I have had 4 pieces in front of my work bench for about 3 years with no ill effects.
We do not get much humidity here in New Mexico anyway.
Thanks for the heads up though!

That would create havoc in South Florida.

Looks really good. I like the idea of the comfort of carpet with the sweepability of tile. Much easier when looking for small parts.
Granted flooring is not very exciting to some, but how can any layout progress be boring?? [IMG]

True John , to me the worst day in the train room is better than the best day working!!
    It is certainly comfortable now.

    Mike-

What was the sub-flooring? I have painted concrete. Which isn't truly leveled. And with some humidity. Wondering what prep work is needed?

Boxcab E50 , No prep , they just lay , no glue.
I feel the humidity would not be a problem. If it was you would be having layout problems as well.
    Thanks , Mike

That is not boring layout progress by any means. It is the infrastructure that always determines how comfy the layout room will be and how the rest of the progress will be. I need to add some sort of area rug in my train room to soften the concrete too.

Fifer, I have been looking for different ways to have a confortable flooring option other than carpet as I too have painted concrete. That's one I will have to investigate. Thanks for the heads up. [IMG]

I did the same thing about three years ago. Aisleways only. It really does save wear and tear on my feet, back, etc. I highly recommend it, and it's pretty cheap.
