I am so stinking mad I could make a nuke going off look small!! I had to run back to my Armory (my duty location....Army) as I had a set of keys on me that my fellow soldier on duty tomorrow (today) will need. Since I was there I thought I would check to see if we had gotten any mail today as I forgot to check earlier. I have most of my Ebay items shipped there as I at work more than at home Well, I bid and won a completed Burger King Structure. It was already built but I figured what the heck I can still detail it and the Burger King is not the easiset to find. Not impossible but not alway available. I have been planning on getting this structure since 2000....just got around to it now. Well I thought the large envelope was something for work.....paperwork or something. But then I heard items moving in the envelope as I picked it up. I checked the address label and it was for me and had a Paypal shipping label. I was a bit puzzled as what it could be I thougth maybe it was a couple of locomotives I have recently won. NOPE the darn seller stuck the BUILT building inside the original flimsy LifeLike box and put the box inside a thin lined buble wraped envelope (Scotch Bubble Mailer). Needless to say the build is in about 1000 pieces. I am sure it does not help that yesterday (Friday) it was -15 F here. Today the high was about 4 F. I have sent to steaming emails to the seller to see what he will do to fix the problem. I just cant believe somebody could be so darn stupid to pack it this way. I am SO STINKING MAD!!!!! Excuse my vent. I will be better tomorrow. Taylor Out
Look at it this way. You can rebuild it now. clean up all the bad glue. piant the unpainted plastic. Detail the interior. You have all the panels, I take it. At least you got it, right?
Funny, I had the same thing happen with a Pizza Hut I bought, but not with the disasterous results. The seller didn't even bother putting it in an envelope. He simply wrapped paper around it....no protection whatsoever! It was still unassembled though, and everthing was in good order, miraculously.
Yes, that was good! What was the seller ID for future reference? Hope it all works out, at least get your money back-sometimes you just have to wonder...
LOL thanks for the humor : As far as rebuilding it....could be tough, one wall for example is in about six pieces.....were talking N scale here I think the cold was a huge factor in all of this as well
I just got an email from the seller, he stated that he will refund my money and that he had someone else do the shipping for him as he was out of town. I am in a holding pattern here to see if he makes good on this. If he does, all will be forgotten on my end. Still disappointed but I guess this time I will search for the kit to avoid this issue.
Matt, Hopefully you can glue it back together and salvage it. I always check a sellers feedback somewhere along in the bidding process. I once recieved a Cornerstone structure which had been repackaged to fit into a video mailer. It wasn't damaged, but there was no original box, if it wasn't so tacky it would have been considered clever. However the A@#hole got me for $7 shipping when it only cost $4. Good luck with the salvage. 2slim
Matt: With some reconstruction the building can be restored. Be grateful a loco wasn't packaged that way. Stay cool and run steam......
It is going to be tough going to attempt to rebuild....the walls not just brok but shattered. One wall is in no less than 25 pieces!!! The seller made right on this. He refunded the funds and told me to keep the product. I have left him a positive feedback with an explanation of the situation. Yes it could have been much worse but still had me miffed somewhat.....I will get over it. Hey, tomorrow is a new day!
Hmmm........Not sure about Army regs but it is against the regs in the USAF/ANG to use the base address for personal business. I'd hate to see you get jammed up if it's the same for you. As far as the seller goes, I'd definately get ahold of him and see what's up with his shipping methods. Maybe the package is/was insured against damage?
I am currently AGR in Minnesota and no it is not against regs in Minnesota for Full Time Staff. I have been full time in this role for about four years now, total active duty time is 10 years. It is an National Guard Armory which is for lack of better words civilianized. I know what you speak of though and if this was an actual base, that would be a no go. Mail for this facility is not handled by the military, it is the good ole postal system and we have a standard mailbox at the street like a house. I know, strange. There are four including myself full time. Rest of the unit is traditional National Guard. I am a former active Marine (1990-1994) and joined the Guard in 1995. I went full time again as AGR (Active Guard Reserve - Active Army) in 2002. During the week I am the Unit Administrator and I am a Mortar Sergeant within the company. I used to be a FireTeam Leader but switched to Mortars because they were short soldiers. We are an Air Assault Infantry Unit with about 70% of the unit prior active duty. Many Marines . If this was ANG I would not be able to luse this address as most ANG / USAF is an actual base (even if reserve). The Army side of the guard is a bit differnt. I will take a look at the options and go from there. Thanks for the advice guys. Have it your way indeed.......I dont recall ordering a pre-smashed Burger King!!
Was full time with the ANG for 3yrs. Just started my 20th year with the ANG. Best part time job in the world! In Baghdad alot of our security elements were ARNG. Very squared away bunch of troops!
