I wrote Digitrax about my failed decoder. They promptly wrote back and said it would only cost me 35.00 to replace if I sent the bad one back to them. I was not aware of this before and thought I was out the full fee for the unit. It just goes to show you that if you write to the manufacturer, 9 times out of 9.1 times they will work with you on replacing your unit.
Geeky: Lenz doesn't charge at all for a decoder that's gone bad., whether it's your fault or not. As for Digitrax, I thought $17.00 was the going price for them to replace a decoder if you sent the original one back. $35 is no bargain. Most Digitrax decoders can be bought new for less than that amount. The inflation rate didn't double in the past year. EDIT:*** I read in another post of yours that the decoder you fried was an HO decoder... Perhaps that a reasonable price to replace that decoder. A I said above, Lenz decoders are on the house irrespective of the scale. Stay cool and run steam.... [ October 11, 2005, 06:58 PM: Message edited by: Powersteamguy1790 ]
Digitrax? Their new sound decoder just came out - not that expensive. Sounds like a Soundtraxx decoder...... Jim
The Digitrax 'policy' is $17 for a replacement, but if you write a good 'story' about how you fried it, they may replace it for free! Jim
