I'm trying to get that sun bleached white concrete look for a cement plant. What's a good color or combination to use? I'd like to stay with acrylics, preferably Polly S since that's what my local hobby shop carries. I've tried "Aged Concrete" (too brown), and regular "Concrete" (too grey). Thanks for the help.
Pete There's an acrylic color by AccuFlex called "SAND" #16-38. I've used it for light colored concrete. It might be what you are looking for out of the bottle. Add a few drops of flat white to it to lighten it up if needed.
I like to use tube acrylics. They are a lot cheaper than the bottles and a tube will last for years. I get mine at Wal-Mart. For concrete I use titanium white, mix in some water to thin and add a very small dab of black. Be very sparing with the black, it goes a long way. Some times I also add a very small dab of raw umber to brown it up. One thing nice about the tube acrylics is that if you get it too dark just throw away what you have mixed and start over. It costs so little I don't worry about it.
I have used Floquil's antique white w/ some success. Also... dont discount using the color you want... just plain white. Stark white airbrushed on and then soaked/wiped w/ Dave Frary's infamous india-ink/alcohol spray can also look good. The ultimate way is to try several things w/ the material you are contemplating and then sticking w/ what ultimately looks best. Try different things. You know in your head EXACTLY the look you want... so experiment. -Kitbash [ 01 June 2002, 01:13: Message edited by: Kitbash ]
