I was thinking about trying it with an N scale LL GP-20. Powered, I think it would too high to look convincing. I've got a few old GP-7/9s that I might use unpowered.

    Pete,
As in my earlier post, Sagami makes some wonderful 9mm can motors. With a little work, these will definately fit into slugs. You can get flywheels for them too. Think the flywheels were NWSL.

    John,

I'm aware of them--in fact, I picked up a few on e-Bay a while back. I'm not sure remotoring GP-20s or old GP-7s is worth it. I do think the extra electrical pickup is always good. On DC, I once hardwired an ABBA consist of Bachmann F-7s--they would never stall.

    GCH,
Thanks for the kind comments on my Chessie slug!

However, as I mentioned I have another slug in Western Maryland that I have no pictures of online. With a BL-2 Mother unit, just as the Western Maryland ran them! But as soon as I can add that too my pictures in railImages, I will have pictures of it to post for everyone. Just getting pictures of it online is the problem right now so.... (Got a digital camera, just having trouble loading them to the computer to use online).

It's been almost a year, but finally the slug is ready for the paint shop. The green body in the pictures above ended up being cut too low, so I bought an undec shell and redid it. Then I cut a piece of styrene and fit it to the cut-down body.

    Here are a few pictures...

Here's a close-up shot showing the electrical wires, allowing the switcher to have 12-axle current pick-up.
