I picked this up in a lot of three cars over on that Internet Auction Community... gave it a good home. I installed appropriate Kadee (yes, they were that old!) Micro-Trains Roller Bearing Trucks. That only took about three weeks... Here it is at Old School Junction on the layout. The usual suspects over on the "More eBay Humor" thread thought this was a decal job. Confirmed, and with a nicely done dull coat over them.
I don't put much in this thread cause if the girlfriend see's how much I've been buying I'm a dead man ........... Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut ........ this needs a mention. I bought some paint from Arizona Hobbies. It's Tru Color paint and I was sceptical it would make it to Australia due to restrictions with air freight. I sort of want to tell everyone here where to get this paint but it could mean the end of it also. Anyway everything was packaged wonderfully and a truck would have to run over it to do any damage. The retailer went above and beyond just selling some paint and included 3 different lots of literature for using the paint, what is available and associated products. Great job Arizona Hobbies ! . My next purchase is a book ......... I didn't include it in the paint order cause that would be tempting fate.
Just ordered a Scale Trains Operator N Scale GE ET44C4 Tier 4 GEVo, BNSF/Heritage III. My first Scale Trains locomotive. Fingers crossed.
A $500 first time order to Plaza Japan. Gulp! Full disclosure: it was a combined order with two other club members but still. Never placed a single order that much for trains! Let's see how fast from Japan to East Coast.
Another covered hopper for an industry on my layout. I don't get many Atlas freight cars, sticking mostly with M/T but I do like Atlas's Airslide and PS2 covered hoppers.
Couple of new things in my collection. Not pictured is a couple of Just Plug modules, but I’m pretty sure you all have seen those before. I think imma use them in my main layout once I get to that point on it. Trying out a Woodland Scenics building kit, looks like a good kit from my initial inspection. A couple 40’ Christmas themed cars from Atlas to run on my little Mini layout.
Picked up 2 Atlas BNSF Buffer cars from PNP Trains (thank you @Paul Brian Pellegrino and Paula). These are really nice!
Well silliness and uniqueness got the better of me. I got one of the UP Big Blow Turbine locomotives. Unit number 18.
Last time I ordered from them I received my order in under a week here in Texas. And I'm too cheap to pay extra for faster shipping! Great place to do business with.
I went to the BORG to get some moving boxes (why my model railroading has been on hiatus lately,) and grabbed one of their big lumber carts to fetch the boxes. The cart's wheels had a couple of flat spots (or dried gum/candy deposits?), phased apart just so, that it sounded (and felt!) like a steam locomotive pounding the rails, going down the aisle and back to the registers! Hopefully, I'll get my layout going again soon, but likely not before Christmas... too many honey-do's! Still, that little trip today was a nice reminder...
That's good to know. I used one of the fast ones, DHL Express Worldwide, only because John Moore uses it for all his stuff from Japan with no issues. BTW, do they email you the tracking number after they ship? Or your package just shows up at your door steps? Yes, we combined to save on shipping. Three people. Order was $450. Shipping was an additional $50 for DHL. But boy, the savings over US prices and some things you just can't get in the US, like a lot of Tomix/Tomytec stuff.
I get a tracking number, but I've used FedEx. I've had stuff shipped from Germany and Australia using DHL from different vendors and I've never received a tracking number. I don't know why. I'm interested to see if you get one. And yes, the price difference is huge. I buy entirely too many Shinkansen, and it seems like their prices are half of what they would cost here, if you can even find them in the US.
