About 4 1/2 years ago Athearn released these in the as-delivered paint scheme, and did Mopac at the same time. I bought one each of Frisco and QA&P. Can't remember if the modernized scheme was released at that time or if yours is a later run. They run and look great, but are fairly light (not much weight). Mine stay coupled together as a two unit set. Mine are also DC, but my layout is DC. Congratulations!!
Not really sure if this is the earlier run or not, but the absence of the proper spark arrestors on the one I have may be the key. As for weight, I'm gonna run this on an a round-the-wall shelf layout with no more than ten cars per train, so I have no worries there. Of course, I got it for a pretty decent price ( 20 % off ), so it may be an earlier run.
I just recently purchased a couple of Atlas Lehigh Valley C-420's for a dual purpose. First to haul a Lehigh Valley train but more importantly in 1964/65 the Lehigh Valley traded to the DT&I 3 C-420's in exchange for testing out 3 GP-35's on the LV. The DT&I assigned the C-420's to the Ann Arbor as they had previously had Alco FA-2's on the roster and knew how to maintain them. (The LV also did the same with PRR C-628's and ended up purchasing C-628's as they were not as slippery on grades as the GP35's). So these beauties will be hauling both LV and AA trains on the layout. Rick Jesionowski

Speaking of GP30's, I just received another ScaleTrains D&RGW GP30 yesterday and another on the way arriving tomorrow.
I am usually too cheap to buy new stuff, but a recent email from Walthers had these heavyweight depressed center Westinghouse flat cars. And, since the price was not terribly high, and because my immigrant grandfather worked much of his life for Westinghouse, and retired from there, I bit the bullet and bought both available car numbers. New Scale Trains PS 5820 hoppers I preordered several months ago arrived on Saturday. Here they are on the layout for the first time. I’m modeling 1972 period, so these cars are “brand new” and will get minimal weathering limited mostly to the trucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I received my NKP RS-11's today, the horn placement is more like the 800 series engines as all the pictures of the 500 series RS-11's show a 2 chime on the short hood and a single chime on the long hood, and no firecracker antenna. Other than that I am pleased with my purchase. Rick Jesionowski
Some months ago, I bought two of Walther's Westinghouse depressed center flatcars, but the transformer loads for them were backordered. So, this week, they magically showed up on our doorstep. A friend from our train club has supplied be with a number of photos of prototype Westinghouse transformer loads, so I hope to, eventually, detail these to be somewhat like the real thing in honor of my grandfather who worked on stuff like that during his entire career at Westinghouse. Cool! I work at a company that manufactures transformer test sets (I built about 80 of those). On the topic of Westinghouse: It's an actual motor rotor on there. That monster is so top-heavy it's nearly unmovable without it capsizing - but it's great fun to look at and starts conversations typically with "what the heck is that?!?!". I bought that at an estate sale for a few bucks some years ago. The previous owner did a nice job with the cribbing and tie-downs.
Only a part (a third?) of my "unboxed" rolling stock collection (see attached) have almost as many boxcars/'ole diesels/cabooses & Pullman cars as well. They're organized by apparent brand, based on truck type, suspect converting ALL to Kadee knuckle couplers would be quite expensive . . (ps: found these screw mountable 'springy clips' quite handy for easy under-table LED wiring anyone else seen/used them here?) (pss: it's more like "What's NOT on Your HO Workbench". Having laid out & tested new 4X8 yard extension 'ave taken someone's suggestion here and am totally tearing up original 4X8 in order to move table & roundhouses to the far right end (rather than in the middle)
