Another “not too many” CSX schemes that is fading away fast. CSXT 246 still wearing its YN2 scheme leading CPKC 662. Bettendorf, IA May 10, 2023 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Did ya' get a bucket? We had a coal train derail 5 cars back in 2015 here, my BNSF buddy told me to grab a bucket and meet him down there-got a nice bucket of coal!
An eastbound CPKC 444 (Calgary-St Paul manifest) enters the yard at MP 467 on the CPKC Portal Sub. The crossing in the foreground leads to the grain elevator behind me.
Looks like CSX is entering the heritage unit scene, with the 1827 (the year of the B&O's founding). The blend of old and new paint brings some visual discomfort to my aging eyes, but at least CSX is showing some love. From what I read, there are more to come. [Photo by Aaron Van Amburg]
Being a CSX fan and not knowing about prototypical stuff, what this mean? Please explain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
[ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heritage_unit ] covers it pretty well. As an example, I posted my shot of NS's Pennsylvania Railroad heritage unit last week in TrainBoard's weekly Weekend Proto Fun thread. It was taken 05/01/2023 at Columbia, SC.
Nice and bright, good visual appeal, but they could have gone the extra distance around the cab to complete the original B&O paint scheme. The original logo on the nose would have been a nice touch.
I just learned that CSX will soon complete the job, painting the cab in B&O as well. They wanted to take some promotional photos before doing that. Future CSX heritage units will receive full repaints. With such a colorful legacy, these will be fun to see. Yay!
On a former Reading mainline, no less, NS 1067 leads NS 27P West through Sinking Spring, PA. The area where I am shooting from once had passenger and freight stations, and a tower controlling the junction to the Reading & Columbia branch, which also provided service to Lancaster, PA. Taken this afternoon.
Naw, had a load of fencing materials in the pickup already. Been asking around, but no answers to what happened yet. That's a nice CSX heritage unit! Now if the SF would get on board...........
Wow, that's really nice! I hope I can someday get a picture of the freshly repainted 1067. That was S Tower at Sinking Spring and I think it was within the depot. The branch you mentioned can be seen here to the left of the locomotive and to the right of the Hall Disc signals.
Nice! I believe I was standing by the train order signal looking East for the picture I posted. The photographer here is standing on Woodrow AV.
One of the few NS heritage that I have been able to photograph. This was in Roanoke back in July of 2012.
And here's a much grimier 8105 arriving at Andrews Yard with 18D at Columbia, SC on 09/07/2021. This guy really gets around.
