Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend! It's nice to come into the workshop and type this out with the early morning sun versus a lamp, I do love this time of year. It looks like we all had a good weekend of modeling last weekend with some great progress pictures, let's keep it up!

Friday: I'll be leaving work early this afternoon and will be heading to my not so local hobby shop. Now that it is May, I'm in full Galesburg RR Days mode which means I need to get My NTrak module on the road to recovery by getting the cork roadbed. I'll visit with the owner and may pick up some other supplies before heading home.

Saturday: I'll start the day by going with Ang and getting fresh tires for the station wagon, then off to her dads for an oil change and basic maintenance before the summer. After that we'll probably grab lunch and head home. Ang was supposed to have a work dinner party but that is up in the air so any time left at home will be spent mowing the yard and working on NTrak module.

Sunday: I'll start my morning with a cup of coffee and maybe a podcast. My goal for the weekend is to get roadbed, track and all the feeders soldered on the NTrak module. If I successfully get all the cork roadbed down, then getting the track down and allowing it to dry during the afternoon should be doable. I'm then heading to Normal IL to operate on an HO layout with a few of my fellow coworkers at Athearn. After I get home from that, I should be able to solder up the feeders on the NTrak module and call it a weekend.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 8th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

    Made it through another week

I'll be working on my utility truck conversion -- hope to get the first color of paint on them.

    Happy Friday all!
It's been a long week. Hopefully today will pass quickly and quietly. Saturday is our neighborhood yard sale. The wife has some things he will put out and I have no doubt I will be drafted to help with that. That should wrap up by 3ish so I hope to get a little time at the workbench. Sunday afternoon should also be open for workbench time.
This week, I picked up some black thread and some 0.032 brass rods that will be used for securing loads. That should allow me to finish up some loads. Thread for the pipe loads and then paint the brass rod black, cut a bunch of lengths and use that for securing a tractor load to a flat and finish securing a dimensional shapes load in a gondola.
I have a BNSF M/T 3 bay covered hopper that I had picked up used at a show a few years ago that had a full one side graffiti decal on it. Over the past few weeks, I have been working a little at a time to remove the decal and it's about gone now. I had been thinking that I would end up needing to repaint and decal that side of the car but now that I'm about done with the decal removal, I think the way it distressed the paint actually looks pretty good. I'll probably do a few little touch ups, put the trucks on it and send it back to the layout. I also received a replacement couple for the M/T balloon car so I can get that installed and move it to a nice safe spot for display. That will make 5 cars finished up and off the work bench.
Then if time permits, I'll see what's up with some squeaky coal hoppers along with adding new metal wheel sets to some more cars. I should spend some additional time cleaning and organizing for later this month but I think that can wait until next weekend.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Oh, and even though I still am not sure I get it, Happy Cinco de Mayo

Happy May 5. Got a good weekend coming up.

Today: Not much modeling. The Mrs. and I are having all our kids and the grandkids coming for "Cinco De Mayo". So it will be quite a bit of grilling and chilling here late afternoon and evening. May get up to the train room to roll a few cars around the layout, but that will be it.

Saturday: The Neuse River Valley MRR club is having their May train show at the NC Fairgrounds. I'll probably get a few pennies out of the piggy bank and head over tomorrow around lunch time and see what I can scarf up for the layout. Will probably come back here and work in the train room a bit but have no clue what. I am hoping the "Sipping and Switching Society of NC" has their layout set up again.

Sunday: Hopefully, I will work on some more scenery.

    Have a great weekend all!!

    Kitbash,

I'll be at the show, also.
The only layout at the spring show is usually the N-Rail T-Track layout. There just isn't enough room for the S&S boys. They're already committed for the Nov show, though.

    Good morning everyone,

A few weeks ago when I got a corner module out of the club trailer for another member to work on the scenery, I also got out our box of DCC stuff and brought that home with me. This weekend I plan to got through and test everything out as it's been sitting for over 3 years. There will be coin batteries to change in the command stations and broken connectors to replace on the loconet cables.

This is all in preparation for the N scale convention which is now less than 6 weeks away.

Weather here has been rainy again but if it clears up enough I'll be doing more work in the yard. Wishing you all a great weekend whatever you are doing.

Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio!

Friday, will be working on the Moloco 50' PC&F RBL and painting a completed IMRC 50' FMC 5283CF Boxcar that I finished this week. I do not celebrate made up holidays that were invented to sell beer.

Saturday, will be going to the club for the first time since the Bowling Tournament started will be a nice restful day after the hustle and work on the tournament. Will be working on the Moloco kit in my spare time.

Sunday, have to do the laundry and then choir practice for the first time in months along with working on some kits and finishing up adding detail parts to a couple of new locomotives.

Also working on building a Moloco PC&F 50' RBL, shown is the frame with the ends and cushioning return spring attached. The ends are keyed so they are in position to be glued when installed.

Here I have installed the sides and underframe, now have to add the air reservoir, ABD Valve, brake cylinder, levers, airlines, guides and rodding to the underframe. Again the side is keyed so it fits perfectly giving a good solid box to work on.

    See you all later!

My wife has surgery scheduled for May 15. Yesterday we had a pre-admission appointment at Paoli Hospital (pretty much next to the PRR Main Line/Amtrak Keystone Line) and today my wife has an appointment with the cardiologist as she needs clearance before the surgery. Due to the time of the appointment, I must take the whole day off from work. She will most likely be exhausted after we get home, so I don’t know what we’ll do afterward.

Over the rest of the weekend, we will need to run to the pharmacy and the grocery store. We hope to get the last of the Easter decorations away. We need to clean the throw rugs in the living room, upstairs hallway, and master bedroom. If the weather cooperates, I need to pull the heater out of the fishpond and pull the water lilies out of the deep in onto the shelf. There is some other yard things that need to be done also. If all else fails, there is always laundry.

I would like to finish installing the window frames and glazing for the walls of the Morgan House. Then I would like to assemble the walls. Next, I need to work on the roof. I have cars to put away. I also have some cars to finish tuning up and inventory. I hope to test a new locomotive and run some trains.

Ahh, mowing and Ntrak. (y) Utility trucks look cool. Sinko de Mayo! It is to laugh! :ROFLMAO: Train Show! :p Uh oh. No S&S. Six week count down. :cautious: Cinco de Nada. So noted. (Around here, beer seems to sell itself...) Here it is cool and rainy. (@dti406, how'd cha' do 'dat?) Anticipating the "Morgan" house. ;) (Very much hoping for good outcome with May 15th surgery.) Yesterday I installed some front tender steps. Yesterday they were rejected. Yesterday I went back to the drawing board and also slept on it. Today I did a rework on the steps. ;) The following pic shows a comparison. Hint: I am going with the left set. o_O If these look out of kilter, it is because they are. When these are installed, I can continue to the actual locomotives. Prolly' next week. :sneaky: All have a fine weekend. :D

Last weekend did not quite go as planned; perhaps this weekend will go better...

The weather looks to be wet this weekend, so hopefully that translates to some train-related activities.

    Friday:
    - Primer a few more items, and perhaps apply finish to a few that received primer in weeks past...
    :cautious:

    Saturday:
    - What ever Mrs Moose says, which Moose knows will involve taking one of the cats on a car ride. Why, you ask? Because the cat thinks she's a dog and Moose'thinks so does Mrs Moose...

    Sunday:
    - Hoping to experiment with masking in preparation for airbrushing multiple color rolling stock. Moose said that last week, but it didn't happen... Let's see what goes on this time'round...

Hope everyone else has a pleasant and productive weekend!
    :)

Saturday I’ve got an away double header for my daughter’s softball team.

Sunday I think I’ll work on some more graffiti for the pedal box. While it dries I may work on some more GHQ vehicles or a ScaleTrains carbon black hopper.

Extra prayers for your wife Tom and you as well during her need for assistance ! ! I can relate!

Now my plans for this weekend are to upgrade (?) the lights in this KATO coffee shop, kitchen, diner car :

The 3 car articulated set :

Coffee Sop ( left side car in set ) :

Kitchen Car ( center in 3 car set ) :

Dining Car ( right side car in 3 car set ) :

I do not want a real bright light in the kitchen, so I have removed, saved for another time, the as installed light module and bar. I cut off the internal walls and will make a light circuit to fit in the kitchen with a bridge rectifier, 6- 100uf, 20v tant poly caps + 900 ohm resistor to feed a small led in the kitchen area + wiring to the KATO light modules.

A person has asked me on another forum why I would make a circuit with a rectifier etc. that is already on the KATO module. My answer would be "because I can ". Actually I am attempting to convince myself that I can work with all the small components including #38 magnet wire. We shall see !

Looks like everyone will be busy!! My plans change so often I don't know why I make them, and the weather this weekend looks great so I'm sure I'll be out on the motorcycle for a good chunk of time :D

That being said, here's my to-do list:
    1. Get the pond ready for the epoxy pour, I sifted some of my backyard dirt and plan to lay some rocks and sand in there first so it just has more layers and depth.
    2. Add the camping scene and some campfires with 3mm orange flicker LEDs.
    3. Finish off the sides of the table with foam so I can shape some rocks and get them painted and finished up so it looks like the table is the ground.
    4. Wire up another tortoise switch that I installed this week, need to make some dwarf lights for that as well.
    5. Make some HO scale fence out of styrene tubes and screen.
    Have a great weekend!

Probably no modeling. I will likely continue scanning my train order collection. Concentrating on Burlington Northern out west.

I was hoping to get staging into the corner but so far have the ladder wired and some track glued down. The Cobalts are powered off an accessory bus and have been addressed. It all fired up and ran first try, but some point rails need some fine tuning. I hope to begin benchwork for the lower level tomorrow.

I'm tired. I finally got my research papers and five other papers turned in before Thursday morning. And, as you can see, I've been so busy since then, I haven't had a chance to post here. I put a bunch of stuff off until after the semester, so now I'm catching up in the stuff and put off AND trying to get a few things done before I leave the country for a week and a half next week. I've been busy all weekend, I'll definitely be busy today, but at least today will include more train stuff. Church this morning, then out to the Sebring Model Railroad Club for our monthly business meeting where we have several agenda items to consider. I'll try to post a recap of it all tomorrow. Have a great day everyone!
