got my 3d printed trees in the works now . almost done with them. used moss from a red wood tree i had stashed for 6 or 7 years.. need some green leaves ect added still. also posted in the 3d printed section......but this is whats on my work bench at the moment..
My workbench was a table saw and a router this weekend. I built my first T-Trak storage box for my double modules. I have some ideas how to make the boxes a bit better and less complicated, but that’s what happens when you are making a first unit. Right now there is 2 singles and a double inside.

Wiring a replacement decoder into a Bachmann HHP-8 after the original board died. Got the track power and motor connections done. Have to decide how to do the lights. It has headlights and marker lights at both ends so it seems like it might be a good bit of wires.
I decided to get out the computer and play around on Tinkercad for a few. I came up with a ballast hopper to help spread ballast a bit easier. It may have some fine tuning needed before I can move to production but it's a start.
Looks good. How about a narrow slot at the bottom from one side with a place to put in a piece of styrene or other 3D printed part as a slide door? Are you going to put the print files up? Sumner
Well the Plymouth CR-8 class switcher is taking shape. First was to take a hood section off from two shells and one back wall of a cab. Then it remove the cab wall with the small windows and replace it with rear cab wall with the larger windows. I also got rid of the cab side doors and created a 4 window in the cab side. Next I made a jig from styrene and glued that to the inside of the hood sections. Using the jig as a cutting guide I removed close to 2 N scale feet from the hood centers and then glued the now narrower hood section back together. Next will be to cut and splice back together the original frame for a frame of 33 to 34 N scale feet from its original 27 N scale feet. The cab and hood sections will be raised using styrene and additional 1.5 to 2 N scale feet. 100_0004-1 by John Moore posted Apr 25, 2023 at 10:35 AM

Most of the sanding work has been done and the frame is finished and I have fabricated the two Plymouth sand domes that go on each hood, I noticed that the sand domes in the drawing resemble the exhaust stacks on the Bachmann model so used those and laminated styrene to them to make them wider and longer. As soon as I measure and mount the sand domes should be ready for some primer. Wrapping up this "little" heat tender. There are a couple small changes I'd like to make to the next version but this is very close to the final design. I just bought the Olympian set (which arrived in the mail today) so I could see how it would pair up - not too bad for flying blind. The next one I build should be spot on. -Mike
Getting closer to finish. I had the mechanism with shell on the layout running to test the twin headlights front and rear hoods and this twin headlights about a foot apart are really nice and bright. Inside of the shell was painted black so no light leak through. Got the unusual sand domes spot on as far as size and position, They are about a foot out from the cab. For the hand rails I laminated two cut down sections of replacement handrails for an SD-7 on top of the frame. Created mounting pads for MT-1015 couplers. Dilled out the shell for an exhaust stack at each hood and those stacks are offset as per plans. On the photo below the body shell and the frame are posed with the mechanism a Bmann 70 tonner. Now waiting for the paint on the frame to dry below joining it with the body.
