Again, building/platform/ramp set down for visualization only. And this will be a museum with cars outside for viewing. If the depot stays, it would strictly be as a representation of something that might have existed at one time, not for actual use on these tracks.
Thank you. Maybe? I have no eye for such things, so any advice is welcome. I've never weathered anything. This is purely a fantasy museum yard, so my attention to realism is admittedly lacking. I'm imagining for now that it will always look like freshly finished concrete.
Got my wiring mostly done. Thought I was ready for the big lighted reveal. Discovered that one entire four-way back-to-back unit is non-functional, and one led on a three-way is also not working. All were tested before affixing to the module. Already have a new order in to China. And the the wait begins again. Thank you for your patience. Keep your eye on this space!
While watching a little golf tournament today, I thought I would prep my spine cars for running AND storage. I used a water based tacky glue in very tiny amounts to secure the stands to the cars, the trailers to the stands, and the rear wheels of the trailers to the cars. Then I test fit them in my jewelry storage trays. Some properly cut foam packing sheet was utilized for additional bracing where needed under the spine car ends with no trucks.
I am using ZOTS - 300 small clear adhesive dots to hold down the trailers on the spine cars. I using only 1 dot per trailer. It works great! Have fun building the tower!!!
Where are you placing on the car/trailer? Just curious. I thought about only gluing the back wheels, but the axles are pretty loose in the holders, so the back of the trailer can still shift a bit. I figured a small dot of glue between the stand and trailer peg wouldn't hurt.
Progress pic, and a friendly reminder: even when you think you're paying attention, PAY ATTENTION! If you look closely, you can see that I (initially) mistakenly glued the 4-window section to the wrong side of the front wall. Had to carefully slice it back off so it could be flipped to the other side. Thankfully, the brickwork should hide my bonehead error. PAY ATTENTION!!!
LOL Bin there Done that. You defiantly need to pay attention to what you are doing. Those 5 section Tray inserts look like they are just the right size. for the spine cars Where did you get them from?
These are old school, leftover from the original trays that Art gave me. Have never seen them again in that size. They ARE nice, because the slots are slightly narrower than the regular 10 slot tray. Will need a bit more foam sheet to fill in on the 10 slot.
One more progress picture for tonight. Got caught up in watching the golf today, so didn't finish yet. Pretty close. Got the window drip edges on, the roof on, the foundations on, and tomorrow I will construct the external stairways. Need to be fresh for that part of the build...
The ARCHISTORIES kits are simply fantastic. This one is coming along nicely --- may need to add it to my kit collection now that I see it being built! Great colors, material, etc. Nice workmanship as well Bryan.
Final pictures. Let me tell you, those stairs could drive a person to pull some hair out. Or worse. But these are definitely satisfying kits to build, lost hair and all. I just need to be more careful all the way around. You can see random spots of glue everywhere in these pictures, most frustratingly on the brick. But hopefully from normal viewing distance, this will be passable.
To reiterate, that is a really nice kit. The colors, the detail, the brickwork, etc. Any glue issues on your part Bryan are non-evident in the photos. I think we (self included) get too hung up thinking those little issues will show up, but in reality it's the hi-rez digital pics that are the issue. Not the minor glue issues and/or blems. Although don't forget, a little weathering powder can hide alot if it really bothers you.....
