Not 1st place this month. But not 3rd either! The following, a cell phone photo of the 4014, undergoing maintenance in Cheyenne. Got a private visit with Ed, at the end of Jan, 2023. Took this, while waiting briefly, for himn to return. Ended up winning yet another N Scale Supply gift certificate! Couldn't get a good sshot, without light glaring back at me, in the glass. Still slightly faded, from lighting, but not bad!
Congratulations, great picture and brings back memories. One of my best friends in college (U. of Wyo) was from Cheyenne. He got a degree in civil engineering and went to work for UP out of Cheyenne in the 70's. Traveled/worked the divisions from Nebraska through Wyoming. After a few years they wanted him to transfer to Omaha and he didn't want to go so got stuck job/promotion wise by staying Cheyenne. Then went from a civil engineer to a train engineer until he retired about 10 years ago or so. He took me through the roundhouse there in the '80's. Good memories and I think I have some faded slides from that visit. Sumner
That roundhouse is the oldest or second oldest structure remaining in WY. So much cool stuff to see in there, and Sherman Hill Model RR Club once met in there, and held meetings in the caboose! We used to run trains on the layouts set up between the roundhouse tracks with the UP 838 parts engine and whatever was stored on the northernmost track.
