Indeed Rob, sorry to hear this news. Well, the results of the survey I posted showed the majority of us are just a bunch of old guys , so just know we are in this with you. And we are all rushing for one reason or another. Certainly thank God above that you have a daughter and family that are willing to assist. Many others are not so blessed. Look at it this way -- you can make Z-heads out of all of them.
Robert, It seems that several of us had our health go South lately. I wake up with sore hips and back. After awhile I am feeling better, but I don't know why the morning is ugly. Guess it is a part of life. My hands and eyes aren't in tip top shape either. Now memories are the sweetest Z experiences. Looking up to wire under a module..............forget it. That is for the younger generation. Sigh........
Sorry to hear about your health issues Robert. As I posted above I've only starting having to deal with how Arthritis effects my hands in the last 2 or 3 years. Working in the construction industry I've always had off anytime it rained or snowed. In the past It was those Bad weather days when i did most of my modeling. I guess I'm fortunate that I can still do a little modeling on those days once the Med's take effect. But mostly I have to leave the finer more precise work to be done on fair weather days.
rray Welcome to the old farts club. Joking aside , it’s not fun getting old . Mine started with the railroad. 5 different doctors 50/50 surgery maybe put me in a wheel chair. So I chose to live with the pain. Now 27 years later old age ,Afib ,kidney stones and bad knee. I’m still kicking so don’t give into it. Mined and spirit will keep you going. I told David in earlier post ,eyes and steady hands disappear with older age. So he better get started on those kits. So Ray best of luck and don’t give up.
WOW nice to hear from you Loren. Those cars look good. As for pricing them will you be casting them yourself? I would defiantly be interested in getting a couple of them. Keep us posted on your progress. Oh and Bryan was trying to get hold of you about your modules. Check your inbox
David, I have chassis and will add the logs, wheel sets, and upright supports. Kind of a scratch built project in some respects.
Hi Loren ( @Z train things ), Please contact me via Private Conversation (Inbox) here on Trainboard, or at bkeyser@cox.net. Thank you.
Hard Times, not once, but twice, have stripped me of what could have been my sweet collection. I have slowly been able to build my collection these past few years and I actually thought I was doing good accumulating what I have till someone had to burst my bubble and start this thread! Thanks alot! Wow!!!! If I have 5% of what some of you have, I am doing good. I do have some one-of-a-kinds though that makes me feel somewhat special, but I cannot compete against the Zestosterone levels that some of you have accumulated! It is awesome to see that such collections do exist! Thanks for sharing!! Hobo Tim
Hang in there Robert with my best wishes. I look in the layout shed which still has Shasta and Cuyahoga in and wonder how long it will be before taking them out and setting them up is going to be too much for my creaking joints, Decades of walking on railway ballast is taking its toll now. Kev
I decided to retire early last year, and enjoy my retirement. That’s why I took a train from Florida to California. I rented a bike, and I rode it to the Golden Gate Bridge and Sausalito. I also saw snow for the first time. I am also taking a cruise from Brooklyn this year. With the extra time, I got lot things done in my modules. For somebody that only build one brass structure ever. I build five in two weeks.
Congratulations on Retirement John! All the time in the world enjoy life and all the things in it, good for you!
Welcome to the much deserved retired generation John! I just got back from a camping trip yesterday where we went over snow covered mountains, and to a reservoir between the mountains where the weather was in the 70's. It was great, then we went up the road to Trinity Hot Springs in Paradise Idaho to soak our aches and pains away. There is still snow on the hills visible here in town.
Congrats John on the retirement, and hope rray and everyone else's health (physical, mental, etc) improves. I have what most of y'all would consider a very conservative Z collection. I think it's a pretty ridiculous amount of stuff personally, but I enjoy my trains and try not to feel to guilty about it. I'm mostly ceasing to add to it now, since I've shifted focus back to N....and my N collection is--and will remain--pretty conservative too. I'm about to have 3 boys in college, so for now it's time to chill for a bit. Which is fine. So to answer the original question. If you're reading this, that means you probably own a computer and your electric bill is paid. So not too much Z just yet.
