Is near the top of the reading list! Shameless plug, I may bring it with to the Helena show in April.......
Hemi - just might be a good excuse to head down this a way! Have made a bit more progress on the bunker. And figured out how I am going to proceed with the coal chutes. Fun stuff! So, that all six are the same size, The main chute pieces, And folded. Used .015 sheet styrene, which cuts and folds easily. And a short video of the folding process, I had some glue drying time to spend, so weathered this guy, and painted up a handful of wheelsets for some other new cars,
Figured out the basic chute assembly last night, and weathered a couple of old ModelPower stock cars I painted and decaled 20 years ago. So, this morning early, walking through a dense ice fog to get to the trainshed, I sat and videoed up that process and the weathering of my new G&D boxcar. Here's a couple of pics of the cars,
Didn't get much done today. Just a little work on the chutes, soldered up the lights for the bottom half underneath, And added some color to the chutes, This one is hinged. Plan to have a hinged one on each side, minimum. A light for the crew shack,
And with the weathering bug chewing in my ear, I worked on 7 different cars this morning while enjoying just listening to the NP passenger set rolling along! Yup, fun! Here's a video, and a few pics of the weathered and re-wheeled cars.
Yup. I have 4, the Gorre & Daphetid, Moonlight & Violins, Texas & RG and the Hardscrabble and Great Divide.
And the weathering party continued.... The flats need the crates tied down, and some weight in the hollow centerbeam, and a couple more loads.
Aside from a few more cars, I did some finish work on the good ole 2511. Neolube on the valve gear and smokebox, a 905 Z coupler fitted to the original pilot a bit of paint and some weathering powders. Next up, a crew and some glass. The boxcars behind her are freshly dirtied, too.
Any background information on the "Hardscrabble & Great Divide"? I cannot recall anything about that name. I have four as well. G&D, T&RGW, V&O and one more which the name is escaping me at the moment.
Nice weathering! The only tribute car I have is the Colorado Model Railroad Museum's layout car, Oregon, California and Eastern Railway.
Took time to run a couple of trains this morning before we headed to Billings. Dorothy has to get some corrective surgery done to her wrist. It was set last May, but the plate and the installation was incorrect. Time to get it fixed. Praying for a good outcome! Anyway, here's trains.
