Tim, I am pretty sure I am on the top of the list. So I want one of the first castings. I cant wait to get my paws on it. Guess what color scheme I am goint to paint.
Jeff, drop "copper roof" into Google images. We both win. Michael shows what I was referring to. ...don
G'day. The turntable conversion interests me Kev. That's great curn, fabulous stained glass, great piccy mate. Nice house you have put together there , it has come up real good mate. COOL!
You all are doing some good work. The SD70ace shell looks well cast for resin. I don't think Ive ever purchased a resin model that looked that good. Thanks for all the comments about the stained glass. The "glass" was simply printing the windows from flickr onto transparency film, after scaling them to fit. Jeff, I don't have any plans on building it into a module, so have at it. Here is a better photos of the windows. Another neat thing about the kit, is in the cemetery... they offed Harry Potter. http://sonnet1.sonnet.com/usr/curn/coll/church/IMG_1551s.jpg
Tim, the shells look great. glad they are finally coming. what i need is two replacement sets of handrails (as you remember, the first trail sets were not up to your standards). with those two added handrail sets, i can finish my shell and master with as good a product as everyone else will be getting. the master for the mold is still untouched, if you want/need to have it again for another mould. you may not be interested in doing another round, which is completely your decision. otherwise that master will get painted up (one day). the shell price is a steal at $40, i think. you have done well by your commerades. dave f. p.s. tim, i sent you a PM.
I have put some overview pics of the other baseboard of Cuyahoga on the mardy model railway club thread but thought you might be interested in these Thses are some billboards I have made to put some colour into the foregraound of the layout The icehouse is based on the Wheeling & Lake Erie one at Toledo. it is scratchbuilt in plasticard but needs some ice barrows adding when i get around to it It is only modelled in low relief to hide the storage tracks at the back, Apologies for the clutter in our backyard getting in to the top of the shot! You can see the baseboard construction in this shot and how the low relief buildings and the elevated Pennsy line act as a scenic break The board is just stood on the plinth we use for the other layouts, the legs for this board are hinged and folded up inside the frame if the good weather holds up I will put both boards up together and photograph them with the control panels attached so that you can get a good idea of the layout as a whole.
I went down to the Great Train Expo in San Jose and witnessed firsthand all the exquisite work that the BAZ Boys do. It inspired me to finish some of the projects that have been on my workbench for some time. First up was painting and decaling my 2-6-0 which I was holding off on for lack of decals, but since my Sierra Railroad decals showed up, it became #26. Although they were N scale decals, they worked out pretty well.
Wow! We are seeing some real nice work here! KevSmith's Ice House and platform are really nice, and Curn's oil burning Mogul is top notch! I had the pleasure of meeting Curn this weekend at the San Jose train show, and it's too bad I did not get to see his Mogul. He did tell me about it. Excellent work all, keep them coming!
Yeow Curn ! Really nice ! Like Rob, too bad we couldn't see that first-hand !!! You could have placed them on Lajo's module for so quick era shots. Torsja, I think you have some competition ! Maybe we'll see it some weekend soon ! Good to have met you too and look forward to seeing you at a future meet or show. Next show is San Francisco Int'l airport Nov 22-23 followed the next weekend by the next Great Train Expo at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. .
I'll have to bring her to the next show. It would have fit in well on Lajos' module, but she was still in bumble bee paint when I met you guys Saturday. And I don't think Torsja has anything to worry about. In the photos of his Christmas project/diorama, the give away that its a model is the MTL GP9 open pilot. The rest is pretty realistic. I don't have the scenery skills to come close to that.
Look! A rabbit crossed my path I know. I should start a project. Finish the project. Move on to the next one. But I tend to chase the rabbit that runs across my path. Or the antelope. I suffer from the Cheetah Syndrome. Anyway, I was trying to put together a quick, easy, and inexpensive kit. I'm still working out the cost. But here are shots of some test builds. The 1/32 " base warps a bit with the scenery but I feel confident that could be fixed in place on a layout with a bit of CA and Catalyst. I'm thinking the chimney should be smaller too. For these I used basswood crimped with a pair of pliers. Cheers,
Looks like a nice "normal" house Michael. Not so many residantial houses made so that would be a good addition to most layouts I would think.
Thanks Torsja. While I was building these houses, I found myself singing, "Little boxes, little boxes, little boxes made of ticky-tacky..." Cheers,
