Greetings everyone and welcome to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a great week and are ready for the weekend, with plans in tow. Let's see what we are planning.

Saturday: There is our annual fall FreeMo event this weekend in McLean IL, put on by my not-so-local train shop. I'll stop in during the morning to chat with friends and run some new Athearn locomotives for the guys. Not sure how long I will stay as I need to get my own modules built before it gets too cold to work in the garage. Saturday night I plan to take the wife out for dinner at our favorite steakhouse as we celebrate her new job. After 17 years, she is starting a new career and I could not be happier for her. It will also be nice to dress up and spend a quiet evening with just the two of us.

Sunday: It is supposed to be in the 70s, so I plan to get the most done on my modules this day. I need to go to the hardware store and pick up some nuts and bolts for the modules as well. I'm really hoping for a day without distractions so I can get the modules ready for track, something that can be done inside. I'm sure some domestic duties will be in there as well. All in all, it is shaping up to be a more traditional modeling weekend for me.

So how about you? What do you have planned? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 10th or Thanksgiving for our Canadian friends and see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Good morning all, and yes, happy Friday indeed.

Tomorrow the plan is to work on rebuilding the plate girder bridge. While out and about this week I stopped by the "brick and mortar" hobby shop nearby and picked up some plain Central Valley girders for this effort. As that gets done tomorrow, I'll start on the next sections of the ITLA elevated bridge. I have 3 more sections to build. I have already built three. I'll have to knock off mid afternoon for football. We're playing Florida State here tomorrow night w/ an 8pm KO. That means loading the car and getting out to the stadium by 4:30 or 5:00 for grilling/tailgating.

Sunday I anticipate a mix of more ITLA elevated bridge work maybe a few scenery things, running some trains. Mainly putzin' around on the layout.

    Have a great weekend.

I was waiting for some couplers to finish several HOn30 log cars. Unfortunately they were mis-routed. Now I have no idea when I can get at that project. :( I have other cars and building kits I could attempt. Trying to process this re-route at present. :( If a part from that bauction site arrives, I could try progressing on a long mothballed critter kitbash....:confused::confused:

Finishing up the module frames. Currently adding the foam board. Also two more frames to assemble. With the call for modules out for the NMRA convention next year all ready made I now need to speed things up on the new module set.

Speaking of health, after I finished my last Cardiac Rehab on Wednesday, my wife tripped on the sidewalk and managed to mash up the ligaments in her hand and wrist after the ER X-ray showed no broken bones. Have an appointment with our favorite orthopedic surgeon next week.

Today, I hope to start decaling a covered hopper and a 86' boxcar before going to bowling.

Saturday, going to club will be problematic with my wife's injury, but I would like to go so I can pickup my new Tangent G41 coil gons. If I have time later in the day I will continue decaling and then assembling a Branchline 50' Boxcar kit which I have already started.

Sunday, Laundry, choir practice and whatever modeling I manage to get done what with dealing with helping the wife cope with her injury, luckily it was here left wrist so she can do some things on her own.

Four day weekend for me here in Japan. I had today (Friday) off, spent most of it in a ramen cooking class with my wife and then the afternoon with the whole family.

Tomorrow is the only day it won’t rain, so I’ll attempt to smoke some ribs. And put off the indoor chores until it rains again.

Modeling-Last weekend I finished weathering/graffiti on 2 Concor autoracks I started months ago and I started on 7 more. I’ll look to finish those on Saturday and Sunday.

Monday I might run down to the Kato store in Shinjuku and pick up some interior lighting sets for my the Amfleets that will make up my Hiawatha consist.

The six straight days of rain (today is the first day without rain) has prevented us from putting up the outside Halloween decorations. We have completed the inside ones. I am working tomorrow, Saturday, so that will delay getting the outside done. We are also scheduled to get our COVID boosters and flu shots after work. Sunday I should run down to Delaware and get gas for the car and run it through a carwash. Six days of mud needs to be removed.

I am hoping to change the couplers over on three Bachmann poultry transport cars. I would like to build a three-car set of New York Ontario & Western coal hoppers that were made by Train Miniatures of Illinois. Anyone hear of them? I have an Athearn Special Edition set of two 50-foot plug door Baltimore & Ohio boxcars to build. And finally, I would like to run some trains.

Does anyone know if on the new Bowser HO rolling stock if their knuckle couplers are plastic or metal? I can't tell for sure but I think they are plastic in which I have a bunch to replace.

    Good morning all,

This weekend I will be sanding and painting the module leg set that I built last weekend. During this past week I have been adding additional small parts that will allow it to be put together in a flat configuration for storage.

Today while the paint is drying I will have some salmon in the smoker and my wife is planning to make a couple of pizzas on Saturday. She does the pizza making and baking and my job there is limited to running the pizza oven.

Everyone have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

Cool news! Good luck to Mrs. on new job. Plenty happenin' here! (y) (I hate "misroutes".) Speedy healing to Mrs. dti406. Look! Cows! Good luck to all with your projects. I myself have gotten a hobby laser. I have also got myself in a learning curve. I am on the horns of a dilemma. o_O Right now the small house project is on hold. Do I go back to that or continue learning laser? Time will tell. ;) Have a safe and wonderful weekend. :D

Many of you participate or have participated in train shows so this is my story and I'm sticking to it. Our N scale club had our 11th annual fair show in Las Cruces last week. This weekend I will be working my RIP track at home. You know there is always a broken coupler or couplers that do not mate up well, or missing axles in a truck, or a steamer that just froze up. I hope you have had better performances than I recently had.

So this weekend, I shall be making the needed repairs and as I always do, after a show, clean the wheels on all locos used before I put them up for next show.

I wanted to do some air brushing but it has taken a downturn into the 70 degree range with rain. Not a great scenario for painting ? ? Oh well, it will warm back up next week.

    Be well.

Train show tomorrow, so I'll check it out and likely do a little railfanning afterward. Continuing to mess around with my foam mountain scenery. Bought some inexpensive tubes of acrylic colors at a dollar store and am washing these on to cover the pink and get a better sense of what things might look like later with ground foam applied.

Not much chance of getting train stuff done this weekend. Friday (the first day of my weekend) I did homework pretty much all day, reading something like 150 pages of history stuff, more reading is on the menu for today, then shift gears and write reflection papers about the reading. This afternoon is an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for our troop's first female eagle, then later I'll drive up towards Cleveland to Hiram for a special program for one of our church members who is on a spiritual retreat. Hopefully, I can squeeze in a few miles of running too. Both my dog and I need it.

Sunday will be church, possibly more homework (if I don't get it done today), dinner at Red Lobster with our daughter and her in-laws to celebrate a shared birthday, and maybe a little time at the train club.

Ok, summer is officially over here, after just raking up the first load of leaves. The trees just started to turn here and there will be many more loads to go over the next month. But that means it's time to put away the bike and the golf clubs and get back to the layout. I hope everyone had a great summer. I looked on everyone here over the summer but for the most part didn't post since there was no layout activity. With Lori home for the long weekend, I'll wait until Tuesday (depending on the weather), and the first chore will of course be cleaning the layout and track and looking for any problems that may have crept up duing the layoff.

With the retirement home in South Carolina nearing completion, I will also need to start downsizing a bit, and clear out some of the unused inventory. We are only planning to inhabit the retirement home during the winter (Nov-Apr) at least for the short term. And I plan to build a small layout I can operate in the garage, but probably not until next year. We probably won't be moving in until January and even then there will be too much else to do to get the house set up. And we have enough stuff to lug down to the new home so that all the tools and supplies I'll need for a layout will have to wait.

Best wishes to all, and especially Rick on completing Cardiac rehab. Wishing your wife a speedy recovery from the ACL injury. I hope it's not a complete tear and that she will be back on her feet soon.
