It's just too bad they have to bow to the rottenness in the country. If the criminals would be prosecuted when caught, the frequency would be much reduced. Doug
Caught this transformer load sitting in the KCS yard in Meridian MS on Tuesday 9/06/2022 And it was still there on Saturday 9/17/2022. The lighting was much better this day.
@BNSF FAN isn't the only one catching new UP boxcars. This one came through the Pass week before last:
CP “Red Barn” 9010 second out on CWR-24 at Bellevue, IA September 25, 2022 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Stumbled onto N&W 611 on the backlot at the Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg, PA on Friday. Did a double-take, having no reason to think it might be there. It'll star in some special events and trips in November.
I think 9010 is a repaint of a former Central Maine & Quebec unit, also former CP. I bagged it a year ago:
It's an EMD SD40-2F, 25 of them were built for CP, and they were the last of the SD40-2 series built. They sported the "Draper Taper" (for CN's William L.Draper, who designed it) that CN had on their Bombardier HR616, EMD SD50F and SD60F, and GE C40-8M units, all with the full cowl and CN safety cab. The CP cowls were quickly dubbed "red barns". Central Maine & Quebec picked them up and used them on the former Montreal Maine & Atlantic line (ex-CP also) after the Megantic derailment disaster. They had some pretty sharp color schemes. After CP reacquired the line a couple of years ago, they reverted to the red barn scheme.
Our local Sheriff calls it "Catch and Release" and he's been a vocal proponent of change to put a stop to the situation you describe. Unfortunately, many of our judges feel a need to set low bail amounts, setting the cycle in motion.
Two notable and beautifully restored diesels on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania at Strasburg. [09/23/2022]
Correct. Was CP, then CM&Q and now back to its original paint but “beaver-ized”. Needs PTC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was out in the Quad Cities yesterday and work on installing CTC continues on the Davenport Sub. A new CTC plant being installed for “CP 193” the beginning of CTC northbound to join CTC Deer Creek north of Clinton, IA. Here, contract workers are wiring a pair of bungalows at “CP 193”. Probably won’t be activated until possibly 2023. Also CTC is now being put in north of Sabula Jct from CTC Lake to currently Bellevue where a new 2 1/2 mile siding will be installed north of Bellevue(CTC Bellevue). Stay tuned. P.S. this is happening before the CP/KCS merger gets “finalized”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Laying new rail in February of 2009 when the KCS was rebuilding the old Southern Pacific "Mararoni Line" between Rosenberg and Victoria, Texas.
