Welcome back everyone. My apologies to all for not posting the Friday Weekend Modeling Plans thread. I was in the middle of the annual Athearn business planning meeting and as such, it had taken up all my time and attention. However with that done I can focus on what you all got done this past weekend.

Saturday: Nothing train related. Took a ride and did some exploring but all in all a day to relax.

Sunday: More exploration, some antique shopping with the wife and finishing the day with a nice quiet dinner. Most of my modeling is on hold until October at this point.

So how about you? What did you get done? Let us know. We'll return again on Friday, September 23rd, the first day of Autumn to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Went to a small RR swap meet. The best part of a 300 mile round trip. Not much railroadiana. A lot of overpriced, common Lionel. Very little N scale, which was common old stuff, mostly grossly overpriced. plenty of ho-hum HO. Chatted with one person I had not seen in well over thirty years. Bought a new Xuron cutter. One Walthers kit. :( Supposed to have operating layouts. In the past there have been a bunch. This time, just two tiny ones. An N and an HO. Only the HO was operable. No. I did not take any pictures. Of what that might have been interesting?

Tried to railfan coming home. Every single time I had a chance, the traffic was horrible and I could not even get trackside. All the area newbies, miserable inconsiderate, just plain rude drivers. Not like it was just a few years ago- when folks would smile, wave at complete strangers, move aside to let others pass, etc. Oh well. Will probably skip it next year. Have never in my life seen so many deer, skunks and turkeys, sleeping on the highway. That was unreal. Almost got some myself.

Happy Monday all. Zippo, nada, nothing this weekend.

Saturday was spent doing home chores in the AM, then Saturday afternoon, we went to to the stadium and tailgated before a 7:00 pm kick off.

Sunday we drove out to Nags Head, NC for a few days on the beach.

Will be back in the train room Thursday or Friday.

    Have a great week all!

    Modelling? No.

This entire week was crazy busy and most of this coming week will be similarly busy for a different reason. Tons of meetings last week so that I spent most of my time on the weekend doing homework (which sounds admittedly weird for a guy thinking about retirement, but its true). Then Friday, my wonderful wife took me for a three hour ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which obviously was a lot of fun. (I'll try to post pictures on the proto thread later). Afterwards, we ate at Luigi's a well-known and long established hole-in-the-wall Italian joint in downtown Akron. Saturday, I had hoped to go to our train club work day, but again, homework. In the afternoon, I had tentatively planned to drive back up to Akron to the Maker Faire at the main branch of the public library to see the display put on by our local Free-mo club, but SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) informed me that we were going to a picnic instead. We rode horses (bareback) and played with big dogs (one of my favorite things) and we did have a good time, but I still haven't seen Free-mo in person.

Tomorrow, I'm leaving in the early morning and driving up (and ferrying) to Put-In-Bay (one of Lake Erie islands) where I will be volunteering on the security team for the Put In Bay Road Race Reunion (classic race cars racing a circuit around the airport) Tues-Thurs. Then Friday I will drive my wife to and from her surgery appointment to have a troublesome skin cancer removed. Somewhere in there, maybe in the evenings I will work on church stuff and do homework (lots of reading this week) so that I might have half a chance to do some train stuff next weekend.

    Have a great week everyone.

    Hey All,

I made some headway in adding scenery around my "Lightning Creek" trestle and nearby mining camp. Still no water in the creek (will also add some detail to the banks), but some progress....

    Hi all,

Been working on little bits of scenery here and there, painting and ballasting a couple of long industry spurs. Also got the inner loop of the upper helix extended a bit and connected to it's PSX-1 DCC circuit breaker. Also got new tires and getting wheel bearings serviced on the Ntrak club's trailer.

(Good thing the captain is back at the helm.) "VO's" look cool. Swap meet organized by Satan? The horror.. And on the beach... Meetings and more meetings... Cool trestle! (Frisco rules!) Good scene progress. ;) I continue to work on the two small house project. I think I have drawn all the cut lines for house sides. (y) I have one windowpane method I can use. I am going to try a second one. All have a great week. :D

Good afternoon from partly cloudy and warm Northeast Ohio!

Over the weekend, managed to bowl pretty well on Friday and the team took 5 out of 7 points.

Saturday, had our first club meeting after the summer hiatus and spent some time getting the railroad ready for the open house next Saturday as part of the Strongsville Historical Society Harvest Festival. Later in the evening did some decaling on a mechanical reefer and covered hopper.

Sunday, did the laundry and attended a choir rehearsal. Also did some more decaling and finshed the two cars.

Here is the Feed Mill kit that I completed from a partially assembled kit somebody gave me that did not have all the parts but I made changes to the kit along with shorting one of the attached sheds so it would fit in the space available on the club layout.

I got some gardening done just not what I planned. The tree over the carport had some low handing branches which I removed. I weeded the small lily garden along the fence, and cleaned up the carport. We got gas for my car and took it to the car wash. We drove my wife's car down to Delaware to get gas since Delaware is about 30 to 40 cents cheaper than Pennsylvania.

We also spent a portion of the weekend getting ready for my wife's surgery which she had this morning. Everything went well and she is home resting. We will get the results of the biopsy by the end of the week.

For trains I reorganized my pile of new arrivals. Thanks to Bowser have a bunch of stuff I preordered many moons ago arrived I had to find space. I tuned up four Bev-Bel/Roundhouse 50 FT Express reefers. I added metal wheels and extra weight to bring them up to NMRA recommended weight. When I built them I installed Kadee couplers. I have two more Roundhouse express reefers sitting out needing the same treatment. After that there is a gaggle of other reefers, boxcars, tank cars, and gondolas to tune up.

No modeling this weekend. A lot of other projects around the house though. Had to pick up my wife after she visited her father in North Carolina. Instead of the Cell Phone parking lot at Hobby Airport in Houston, I park at an aviation viewing lot at the end of runway 31 L and watch aircraft take off and land.
