Well, several of you have been helping me with advice on starting my new T Trak layout for the house and shows. Tonight ran into Lowe's to get a couple of 1x2s and my wife asked what I was planning for the layout. When I explained my plan, she asked why didn't I just build one or two small modules and use the back porch area for a regular layout. After 38 years, this woman can still bewilder me. So now, I am revamping my plans, and I think this is gonna be a lot more fun. So, in a couple more weekends will be the first show I will have been to in decades, and will get to meet most of the local T Trak modelers. This will let me find out what kind of module I should build, endcap, corner or straight. Now just got to find the right plan so I can run my larger steam engines, not just relying on the T Trak mainlines.

Kinda like when I had my layout in a small travel trailer. The roof caved in after a rather heavy, wet snowfall. I was devastated. THE WIFE told me that maybe I should build a new one...IN AN RV !!!

And now you know the rest of the story...:D:D

It might be a good thing. Define "back porch". Enclosed? Comfortable in all seasons? Or temperature extremes any potential to damage equipment, etc?

    yup, definitely a Keeper!
The back porch is semi-enclosed and pretty pleasant the majority of the year. Ceiling fans and space heater will take care of the rest. Gonna rig an easy tray to bring the locomotives in when not running.

Supportive spouses make hobbies much better!

While my wife does not participate in my hobbies, she yields ample space, time and budget for them.

Or maybe she just enjoys the time away from me...

Either way, it's worked well for 31 years!
