Had some Unitrack show up today, so I can now start some planning on foam core for 4x corners and 4x 1' straights.
An exquisite ATSF Model arrived yesterday - ATSF 2611 Box Cab transfer engine. All the way from the Netherlands (Holland) from Dirk.
This came in the mail a bit ago, an Atlas RS-1 in Northern Pacific colors. I got it cheap because it was really dusty in the ebay pic. Dusted off with a soft toothbrush and runs very nicely. Waiting for the decals to get here to finish off the caboose for it.
I'm back on the horse with another Athearn 57' reefer and a DPM trackside transfer building. I was surprised to see how far the 57' reefer has come since the last time I bought its MDC kit ancestor. Metal wheels and body-mount couplers right out of the box? Incredible. Now the rest of my rolling stock needs to be upgraded to match. The DPM building, OTOH, is exactly the same as DPM buildings have been since dinosaurs roamed the Earth. It's gonna take a LOT of sanding before I even get to the fun work.
Found out I have a very nice store about 40 minutes away today. Ran up after church this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. Wound up picking up a LL GP18 in N&W paint scheme, an older church and a couple of tank cars.
This just arrived this afternoon. An ATSF FM H12-44TS test print - has some issues but is looking good.
Ordered a few Kato parts. Also have a couple of Micro Trains cars on the way, a yard caboose and this year's April release, a double painted Rio Grande boxcar Should be here as early as Thursday, or by Monday.
set of Bosch plexiglass blades for jigsaw. The pieces I need to cut are too small for the cutter at the store - nothing to hang onto to keep it from shifting! ...thought maybe I was going to get out of this one for free. Silly rabbit
Arrived today: -Various decoders -decks for bulkhead flat cars (closeup too-I need to dull it down, but it does have a little texture) -WC GP40 -Metra F40PH and Pullman Coach-for repainting into METX 100 (RTA wrap) and a bicycle car. -JTC 53’ Walmart containers -Graffiti decals -Red Caboose WC centerbeam Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm currently using a stretched Minitrix FM H 12-44 mechanism (I have a few of these) but I'm looking to see how close an Atlas FM H16-44 mechanism would be. the Minitrix mech is highly modified ( I haven't finished the mech yet)
I think this will be the last of my impulse purchases for a bit. I have several things on backorder which are past due to be in stock and I need to keep money set aside for those. I figured I needed to get the remaining MTL "prototypical grafitti" cars that I have been wanting as I get the impression there will be no more from them due to lawsuits. The 4 car CP Rail hopper set was definitely an impulse buy as it came up in a search from an obscure online retailer and I said to myself "ooooh! I gotta have that". Staying off the searches now because it's going to break me. I found this NOS MTL "the creation of adam" set (below) as well at a great price so had to snag that too. I'm actually familiar with the prototype as I've seen photographs of it/them many times on the internet. I wonder if that is the set that got MTL in trouble. Also an Intermountain z-scale cylindrical hopper and a hi-cube boxcar which IMHO are some of the nicest boxcars MTL makes with applied ladders and such.
Today I was finally able to get to the post office and pick up these four locomotives, some graffiti decals, and a Walthers Bralick kit. The NS heritage units are courtesy of a fellow TB member and the Metra locomotives are destined for some customization. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just arrived, and not the best photos, but happy to have these after a long wait. Walthers Sleeper And a bit more fun, Rapido F40's for The Canadian Now I have more incentive to get my test track up and running. The sleeper missed the project it was intended for. If anybody wants a Southern sleeper let me know. I'll post it in the swap meet if I get time or put it in my swap box. Stay safe
In addition to some generic supplies (styrene, glue, hobby knife blades) I picked up a pack of straight Unitrack so that I can push my one freight car that isn't in storage 2000 miles away back and forth on the world's most minimalist point-to-point layout.
Some BLMA flat cars, reefers, and Atlas/Walthers greenville hoppers for the rock train. Plus some TTX decals. Plenty to do this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
