I was in Missouri yesterday and bought another sheet. Now I can redo the leftmost module (the yard) and will have plenty to use as base material for terrain experiments. (I might put a hill on the corner module with a cut for the track to pass through.)

Another variant: I add one more track on the right side of the yard, and it will be used as a home for the locomotives/switchers when they are not working. Is this better or worse than the previous plan?

Cool JAce there Blayne. (y)(y)(y) The Sheridan-Williams Paint ad on the side wall is a nice touch.

Joplin, eh? Even from Muskogee, that would be a bit of a stretch. I may wind up using two 1" thick pieces of blue foam from our local Lowe's (and, since Mrs. Friscobob works there, she has the 10% discount). I'm guessing that I may live too far south to get 2" foam, but there's always a work-around.......

It's been a while since I've had a chance to work on the Fyan Spur layout due to the demands of job and family. But in about 3 months, I'll be retiring, so the job won't get in the way of the hobbies. :^)

Also, within the next year or two I hope to build a ham shack (amateur radio being one of my other hobbies ... K5HUN). Plans are to move the layout to a location along one wall of the ham shack and to make a significant change: the 'L' shape gets straightened out. Below is the new plan. The red, vertical lines are the module boundaries. Out to the west (left) is the connection to the world; the bottom track is incoming traffic, and the top track is outgoing traffic. I've moved the run-around to the west edge of Fyan (about center on the layout). Between retirement day and moving the layout, I'll work on structures and landscaping on the east two modules (i.e., right edge of the layout to just left of the Coal and Gravel site) and add the run-around.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

On my first weekday as a retired person, I did some "track surgery" and added the two switches for the runaround track (see most recent track plan, above). Next up: add the diverging track (the lower one in the image) between the two switches to complete the runaround track.

I finally finished the MFA freight building. It's from a Monster Model Works wood kit. 20230916_133227 copy.jpg
