Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a nice long weekend and observed some quiet reflection and maybe some rest as well. Let's get started.

Saturday: As predicted, we rode the motorcycles, starting with a nice breakfast, then a ride up historic Route 66. We stopped in Pontiac IL, to visit the museum which housed the War Museum. The museum is made up of well over 300 uniforms dating as far back as the Civil War and donated by local folks who served. We spent a few hours here reading some of the biographies of the men and women who had served. We also visited a Pontiac Car Museum and some neat local attractions. Long day on the bikes but we enjoyed every second of it.

Sunday: I worked on my 4-foot NTrak module and called my dad out east. We talked about two hours. I did have to tame the jungle that was the lawn as well.

MEMORIAL DAY: I finished working on the NTrak module then got things cleaned up for some friends who were coming over for a cookout. With the lawn and grounds cleaned up, I hung Old Glory prominently out front and enjoyed a nice afternoon with friends and family, while remembering the sacrifices of those who gave all.

So how about you? What did you do? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday, June 3rd to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

The wife had an up and down weekend. Saturday was good, Sunday bad, Monday started bad but ended well. Saturday we tried to do some yard stuff but just as we started a shower came up. Thinking if would quickly pass we took shelter under the gazebo. The shower turned into a minor thunderstorm and lasted about an hour. It was very relaxing sitting there in the gazebo as the storm passed. The rest of the weekend I got some household chores done.

I weathered a RF&P caboose, a NYO&W wood boxcar, and four Tropicana reefers. I reumbered the last Con-Cor Tropicana reefer and assembled it. I hope to weather it tonight and then I can run the new Orange Juice Train.

Hope everyone had a great and peaceful Memorial Day. The long weekend went about as expected and hoped for. I got the floor built and painted for the CV 1902 bridge. Went really well and THIS ONE lines up w/ the verticals on the box truss. Also, I got out 10 cars I had in the cabinet. 6 C&O deco-end box cars, a LCL C&O car, and 3 C&O covered hoppers.

Saturday: Worked all day on bridge floor. Took my time and made sure each piece was lined up and totally square. Later, grilled scallops and corn.
Sunday: Got out the 10 cars I wanted to paint. These were all "pre-lettered". The 6 deco-end cars are Intermountain, the 3 covered hoppers are Bowsers, and the one LCL car is a Bachman unit. I took off all the wheel sets and trucks and painted those first.
Monday: I lightly weathered the cars with the C&O "For Progress Herald" as those would have been somewhat recent in my modeling period. 4 of the Deco Ends are as lettered in 1936 so I weathered those a little more heavily. The LCL I barely weathered at all since that would have been new in the period I model. After weathering w/ TCP paints and some chalk, I hit them w/ Testors Dullcote. Also painted the plate-bridge, the CV box-bridge and the box-bridge ties. Maybe during the week I'll slap the rails in on the bridge. We'll see.

    Have a great week all!

Just took it easy. Enjoyed the quiet. Actually watched most of the Indy 500, first time in many, many long years! Made some progress on a tank car kit. Listened to some music and Superman old time radio shows.

    Good morning all,

I got my new printer set up and ended up remodeling my computer area to fit it in as it was a bit larger than the previous one. While doing that I came across some floppy disks from my old Sony Mavica camera. So went through those and found some forgotten shots of my old layouts and transferred them to CD. Here's one from a layout I had in the late 1990's.

    ATSF2431.gif

Looking at the new grade crossing on the current layout I realized that because of the angle double sided signals would be preferable at this location so I carefully removed the NJ International signals from their current location. The signals I am planning to scratch build will be single sided and will go there. Then I prepared the area of the new grade crossing for the signals, creating the spots they will be mounted and building up the landscape around them.

Finished up the Holiday with some pork chops on the smoker.

My version of "highball". Heard it years ago while railfanning in Northern IL while on the C&I of the BNSF, former Q. Dispatcher released a Westbound and told him he had high greens, the signals were green so he was cleared to proceed.

    Some Moose accomplishments...

Friday: Cut 12 inch long strips of teenie tiny shingles for the freight depot, then ran trains. Yeah! :)

Saturday: Ran more trains. Yippee! Conned Mrs. Moose into roofing the freight depot. Haven't posted photos because it is a very looong process to cut and install the individual shingles, and it may take the rest of the year to complete... o_O

Sunday: Was suckered into creating YouBoob channel for da MT&P layout. And having done that, Moose then added a few videos from the past couple years to see how the website functions. Which naturally lead Moose to start writing down all manner of ideas on what kind of videos to create for to entertain everyone! Mrs. Moose still working on roofing the freight depot while Moose designed and built the first of two sky bridges for the brewery. :)

Monday: Designed and built the second of two sky bridges for the brewery. Mrs. Moose could a nice Scottish dinner -- in lieu of roofing the freight house... Dinner was tastey, so Moose no complain... ;)

Hope that everyone had a great Memorial weekend! :)

It was a busy weekend, with My wife's birthday on Sunday and Memorial Day. I did manage to do a little more scenery work in the Canaan shop and yard area and the embankment by Specialty Minerals.

Wait! Wait! I just painted 12 Tichy sugar beet car underframes black. When they're dry, I'm going to try to spray the car sides/ends box car red.

    Hmm... I'm speechless...

Good morning from sunny and hot Northeast Ohio!

Right now I am just waiting for my phone call as to when I have to get to the hospital for surgery tomorrow.

Over the weekend did a lot of things with my son who flew in from Denver to be with dad before the surgery. I managed to decal a couple of cars and finished building a double door 1937AAR Boxcar kit along with almost finishing a Tichy War Emergency gon kit.

See you all next week I hope!

You'd think that with a long weekend, I'd have time to get something done. Well, I did. Just not much of anything train related.

I moved all the stuff that was stored in the garage back into our enclosed trailer, cleaned the garage, and have all the parts completed and fit together for the large bird feeder tree that I'm building for my wife. I built one for her almost 20 years ago, but it did not survive the last move (3 years ago). It will be about eight feet tall, have four arms for (at least) four feeders, and each one can be lowered to the ground for refilling. The last part is to dig the two foot hole to stand it up in but that's going to have to wait until we get back from our trip to Fort Hood, TX to visit our son.

I did monkey around a bit with my new "spy camera" which is small enough to fit through an N-gauge train tunnel, but disappointingly, between its two buttons and lack of English directions (the directions *look* like English, but make no sense and are virtually undecipherable). I plan on trying one more time with it attached to my desktop computer to see if I can *watch* what it is doing, but if that fails I'll just return it to Amazon. It was a cheap experiment, but sometimes you do get what you pay for. As of now, I'm watching a couple of Gopro session cameras on Ebay. More expensive, and slightly bigger, but of more dependable quality.

My Sunday trip to the Sebring Model Railroad Club, on a holiday weekend, was a quiet one with only one other club member in attendance. But he had the layout to himself since I spent my time updating our ledger, paying bills, and preparing a financial statement for next week's monthly meeting.

As I mentioned, we will be in Texas all week so I have no hobby plans. The only plan is to spend time with family and meet our son's new serious girlfriend. There might also be a ride, or at least time inside, of one of the Army's newest M1 Abrams tanks. :)

Saturday - grass wars 2022 followed by pool chemical alterations and then setting more fence posts.
Sunday - fence board hanging, small tree removal, yard clean up
Monday - train room cleaning, and the initial installation of SCENERY on the east end of module 1. just the ground foam layer, and a few small signs and automotive wheel stops, but hey, its progress right?

    Done!

Ok, there wasn't too much on my modeling plate. I was able to cut the coach-window shades I had on my list.
    NP coach shades 220530.jpg

The hobby laser is a "fiddly" thing. Making incremental improvements, with only the occasional step backwards. After I actually accomplish a few more things with it I may consider a more robust version. Definitely has potential.

Decided to go ahead with the "Road to Nashville" thread. Me thinks the Weekly and Special Thread forum might be the right place, with a note to the N Scale forum as a reminder as it leads up to the N Scale convention. Still pondering. The admins might have something to say about it.

    Stay safe,

Saturday as planned I had a great ops session on a neat N scale model railroad built in two rooms of a town house.

Sunday was spent cleaning up the train room and making space for all the stuff taking up space in the family room. Then I finally got around to putting all my N scale in the new A-line storage system I purchased a couple months ago.

Monday I did nothing. However while I was traveling at work I was able to rework an HOn3 module design. I have three different maps of the Uintah RR yard that was at Mack CO. I have reworked the originally track plan to add more of the features from the 1930 map. Ended up adding another section and enlarging one of the others. This successfully turned what would have been just a staging type track module into one that has switching capabilities. The first map shown is the original map and the other two are ca. 1915 and 1930. The track plan is the originally drawing. I have added another 4’ section to the left and the Wye section is longer and wider. To make it easier for transport I am thinking of adding a one foot section to the right side as a lead for the yard and will make the standard gauge track able to turn away from the end plates.
