Got a couple of questions for you all. My S-2 stopped working with the lights. I can't remember which one was right, 0 or 1 too turn on lights in dcc. Second, where can i find parts for locos like, hand rails, ect. I need to dress up a couple of the locos.
Some may be in stock, such as Atlas or Kato. Check their web sites. Otherwise, you can check swap meets, or try placing a Wanted ad here in our Swap Meet section.
I have been looking around for different pieces. Bachmann has some of what i need so i am going to make a order on what i have seen.Mike at Fifer hobby has some too. If i make the rails for those engines what size wire to use? I don't like the plastic rails they use
I finished the painting but still got to detail yet. I hate those handrails. The ones on the 44toner are small enough that i like them. The NW-2 has the rails taken off and that S-2 is going to be removed. I thought i had some black numbers around here but cannot find them. time to order more. Shots below smoke
I had some small solid wire here and it was still too big. Heading to hobby lobby and see if i can find something that could work. Will let you know what i find
In there Jewelry dept, i found super fine wire. 28 gauge it says. Looks way better than what came with the engines. I got more numbers and letters coming too. So i can work on building railings for the engines. i will make a few shots later when i can get it right.
So, working with fine wire is no joy! hehe I got some new tools to help with the bending and shaping of the fine wire for the railings ill get some shots when i get into it. I am almost not able to see the pieces so i am pretty sure it won't show in pictures.
So, Republic locomotive works is down so i am in progress of building a kit from scratch. Thats ok, I wasn't doing much while waiting for parts to come in so i am building a service tank for diesel fuel. Shot of what i am making and start up of build. Not a big build but fun anyway.
Scratch built. I have about 20 different structures i scratch built. Have about 12 built from Republic Locomotive works and one other from Wathers and two i can't remember who made the kits. All are wood for the most part. I like the wood kits better than plastic.
I have been sick with a sinus cold that won't quit!!! I got one side pretty much done but more to add. Shot below
