Welcome back to the Gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a great week. Let's get started.

Friday: After a lot of thinking, I have come to the conclusion that I will not have a suitable 6-foot NTRak module done for Galesburg. I'm not giving up however, I'm down sizing. The lofty goal for the weekend is to build a standard 2X4 module and have it ready for track by Monday. So I will be leaving work early today and picking up a sheet of 1/2-inch, a piece of 1/4-inch and some hardware and be prepped and ready to go Saturday.

Saturday: Storms predicted throughout the day so the local car show was canceled. I'll cut the main components of the module together and start gluing and screwing everything together. The good news is that my legs are done and only need finish sanding and stain. Other then grilling, I'm staying in the workshop.

Sunday: If I successfully "kit" my module, I will start assembly. The lawn will need mowing and since I repaired the 30+ year old tractor last weekend, I can do that in between gluing and clamping stages. I'll also need to budget some time to installing my air conditioner in my upstairs office and train rooms. IF successful, I'll have a new NTrak module built, stained and painted by Sunday night and I can move it inside the air conditioned office and start laying track this coming week. Since I am building the shadowbox as B&M, I've decided to do this module as a Midwest theme and run CB&Q, BN or early BNSF. We'll see I guess on Monday.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 23rd to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Greetings. Plans for this weekend are somewhat mixed.

    1. Heading home from Hatteras Village today. Not sure what gets done on the modeling front tomorrow with unpacking and washing all of this salt-spray off our SUV. It has been a good trip with a lot of cooking. I brought our "tailgating grill" and we've had some great local seafood off of the docks. Glad we came this week, this means NEXT weekend (Memorial day), I should have good long weekend of modeling.
    2. Sunday: The person "house sitting" for us indicated I got a package which is the new Digitrax Throttle I ordered and the UR93. I may plug in the UR, fire up this "new fangled" throttle and see how all of this goes. Also plan on more work with "EL" bridge I have in progress.

    Happy weekend all!!!

Good morning from sunny and hot Northeast Ohio!

Today, have to run some errands and then I hope to finish and paint a Branchline 50' Boxcar kit, and then start on a gondola kit and another 57' Reefer kit.

Saturday, We have our club meeting followed by an operating session, then I may get a chance to start decaling the painted boxcar.

Sunday, have to do the laundry and I need to do some cleanup work in the basement.

    Good TGIF mornin to Y'all

My plans are to finish up a couple of projects - God willin and the crick don't rise.

Those projects are: My friends NYO&W F3 -- she needs a bit of detail paint - then a clear coat.
My SP H12-44 -- a bit of details to be added - some detail painting and if all that goes well -- clear coat and some light weathering.

See Y'all on the other side

    Y'all have a great weekend,
    Wolf

With the scratch build caboose finished it’s time to get the next project moving.

Saturday is division meeting. After that I need to collect the supplies for the next scratch build and make the kit.

Sunday time willing I will be building and painting N scale MOW equipment.

Monday who knows, shift changes happen this week, I. May be working.

Wednesday I hope to have a decoder in my grubby hands so I can do an install on my HOn3 K27.

Looks like forum members are rising to meet the challenges. (y) The hopper group is finally complete. :) I am glad the group is done.
This is the group of ten fifty-ton hoppers. Numbered in the actual 60,000 series, but non-sequentially. If one looks closely, they will see very few right angles and parallel lines. Too few for this builder anyway. But, as they say, the fun is in the learning. The symmetry problems were brought up to the boss. He said, “Run ‘em!” o_O All have a great weekend. :D

Couldn't quite get 'em all in the pic.

This close up reveals the improved markings. These cars are really, really close coupled, (0-6-0 on the far track). As a further note, I had a good idea how to improve the squareness of the build after I had finished up.

Best wishes to all with your projects. Today I'm hoping the special documents come in and I can get them. Then I will be practicing my forgotten soldering and wiring for a project other than layout. But that will help when I do get to the layout again.
Wet weather here, hope yours are better.

Awaiting some assorted small pieces to continue my T-Track modules project. Probably not here until late Monday. Ordered some detail parts yesterday for an upcoming HOn30 caboose project. Waiting on those. Well, plenty of backed up projects awaiting workbench time. I'll just need to pick one and get busy!

I made a little progress on retaining walls during the week.
This weekend I plan on finishing retaining walls, building roads and starting on building bases/sidewalks.
My stamina is still pretty low so I'll see what happens.

My plan is to spend a few hours working on more scenery on my N scale Housatonic RR. I am hoping to do some work around the Canaan Union Station and on the opposite side of the layout, in the New Milford area, around Neeltran and Quality Oils/Stratas Foods.

The goal is to finish scenery to an acceptable level in all open areas over the summer, then go back to detail and weather the industries and built up areas after the basic scenery is done.

    Moose plans:

Friday: Yard work in the morning-early afternoon * and continue working on the scratch-built brewery buildings in the evening.
Saturday: More yard work *, possibly pick-up a new barbecue grilly thing and hopefully finish some of the smaller brewery buildings.
Sunday: More yard work *, eat lots at dinner time, and maybe continue on brewery buildings if don't pass out from eating too much.

    * The bigger story:

Moose cleaning up the aftermath of one Douglas T. Fir's desire to bring utter destruction to the far corner of Moose's backyard.
    :(

Ya see, Mr. Fir lost his footing in a storm a while back, got all tipsy and fell into Mr Maple -- a strong and stout fellow -- breaking all manner of limbs and such, and destroying part of da Mooses' fence.

Since most of this mess has been hidden from view by a large cypress and other tree folk, Mrs Moose didn't press Moose too much into addressing -- until this week.

And then today, Mrs Moose sees how much open space there will be when Moose clears away all the debris. She decides that Mr Moose needs another project: build her a big shed in the new open space!

Moose hoping that Mrs Moose, in referring to Mr Moose, really meant @Kurt Moose ... :cautious:

I have set low expectations for myself this weekend when it comes to modeling.

Friday: I did make a trip to the hardware store for some materials and tools. This evening we are off to a birthday party for my niece's daughter.

Saturday: Planning for the day to be consumed searching in vain for a wedding present. In the evening I expect to give up the hunt, drown our sorrows in an indulgent dinner and turn to a large online vendor for the gift.

Sunday: It's soccer-game Sunday. Morning game followed by celebration, or consolation, brunch. Two games in the afternoon.

The weather is forecast to be the best of the year. Hopefully we will be able to enjoy it by being outside as much as possible. If I do accomplish any modeling tasks on my list, you will read about it Monday.

    Stay safe,

This past week was the first full week back to work for me in over two years so I have a feeling sleeping late will be part of the weekend. It is nice to be back working. On the good side I am outside most of the time and I am a one man inspection crew. On the bad side this week was mud. I am not sure if I mentioned it, I am doing construction inspection of a project to modify the existing dam in the Schuylkill River that up until 1940 feed the Manayunk Canal. When the project is completed there will be a new feeder structure allowing water to once again flow through the canal.

As far as the weekend there are some flowers to plant and a fence to paint depending on the weather.

In the modeling realm I have Tropicana reefers from Athearn and Con-Cor to build.

Here are a couple of shots of my new office

I’m not sure how much I’ll get done. Pretty exhausted from work and I’ve got some sort of cold or allergy thing as a result of some renovations in my office at work. On top of my actual job, I was also hauling out the old office furniture (at 38, I’m the 2nd youngest guy in my directorate) or spending hours shredding papers from the last 30 years.

Also for the first time in the last 2 years, this weekend the airbase I live on is hosting the Friendship Festival with bands, aircraft static displays, and food booths. My kids want to see all the military aircraft displays and have funnel cake. I think some booths will have beer. So I might not get much modeling done between all of the above.

If I get anything done, it’ll more of the UP (SP, CNW, DGRW) covered hoppers that I started last week and/or the two UP GEVOs to pull them. [IMG]

I doubt there will be any modeling this weekend. Paul from Lifescapes dropped off 6 yards of mulch last evening. I put down a good amount of it before dusk, but there is a lot left to get done if I want to get the car back into the garage. It's supposed to be 91 here today, so it's going to be a chore. I'll at least wait until the sun goes down a bit so I don't fry out there. IMG_0392.jpg

    Very interesting.

I bet there are some huge flatheads in that water.

I'm located along the 8 mile reach of the Girard Canal on the Schuylkill Navigation.
Unfortunately much of the canal prism (bed) has been obliterated due to Pa Rt 422 and housing development construction.
I would love to see a nice flow of water in the canal here.
It's hard to imagine there was once a large wood framed hotel and store houses just across the road from my house.
For a short time there was once a small canal port here for shipments to and from Hopewell Furnace, 7 miles distant be wagon. It was replaced by a port futhrer up stream closer to the furnace.

A late start for me here this weekend. Got back Friday afternoon from our camping trip in the Sierra Nevada foot hills and have been cleaning up and putting things away. Still not done and the weekend is almost half over. If I do get some time with the layout I will likely start a grade crossing or at least the planning for it.

Sure glad we moved to a condo, we used to do 20CY of mulch a year, it took us days unless we got the kids to help.

20 CY! I can't even imagine that. I used to get 9, that was as much as Paul could carry in one load, but I planted ground cover on the back part of our lot. It borders a forever green area, and can't be seen from the street, so we let it grow out. 6 yards now is $400 delivered, so in addition to how much effort it took, 20 yards now would be almost $1500! We tried using the mulch that the town let you take for free, but it sprouted so many weeds that it was more effort to keep it clear that we decided we were better off buying the good stuff.
