I've just started with T and I'm the type of person who insists on building my own stuff. So I spent a couple of minutes in Fusion 360 designing some stock, and I thought I would share just in case anyone else is interested. For the designs, I took some existing STLs in larger scales and shrunk them down. But I quickly discovered that because of the available motorized carriages, a lot has to be changed in the designs to fit the motors in. So things are scaled to fit the motors, so these are not exact scale replicas but rather inspirations. For most of the other stock, I used either drawings, photos or some N scale stock I've had for years. Because of the changes that had to be made on the EMDs, I scaled all of the other stock to maintain some consistency. I used 8.4mm width as the standard. Here's the Thingiverse link. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5387828.

That's an amazing amount of detail for such a small scale. (y)

And the ruled paper those models are resting on really gives a sense of how small that is.

I have been awed by the level of detail the Mars 3 resin printer can do, and I've only had it for two weeks. These prints use the standard settings because I don't know enough how to make them better. In the hands of someone who knows what they're going, I think they could be much better. For reference, anything less than about 0.02mm thickness just gets lost. The front railing on the EMD38 is 0.03mm. It's too thin, so I bumped it up on the other EMDs to 0.045. The ribs on the sides of the boxcars and gondola are extruded out 0.04mm. I'm now working on my own bogies with hook and ring couplers. I find the knuckles are just too tight even without the springs.

    I'm just checking this out.
If these are okay, I can't wait until you get up to speed on the Mars printer!
Some day I'll get into Fusion:rolleyes:.

Very nice detail! Are you printing these in color?

They are printed in Elegoo ceramic gray on an Elegoo Mars 3 Ultra at .01. I then airbrush the base color and brush the details.

No wonder the details are so fine with such a small model!

That's cool and half, plus tax!

I think this is the last of the rolling stock I will be doing for a while. I need to focus on some landscaping work. This is a redo of the Queensland MKA in Tscale. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5439111 along with a passenger car. In both cases, the existing stl files were imported into Fusion 360 and used as models to redraw the features and contours.

I like the way that partial or complete blocks of buildings can be produced in one print.

The details are pretty intricate considering the scale.

    Nice work!(y)

I used Google Streetview and "walked" down the street taking screenshots along the way. Then I opened those in The Gimp to fix the perspective and then I used that as a canvas in Fusion 360. If anyone is really interested, the buildings are from State College, Pa. The tall building is Penn Tower which I lived in for a year in 1974. There were a ton of hours invested in doing the buildings.

I updated the buildings this evening. I had to fix the highrise because it was scaled improperly. I also noticed that one block of buildings was done incorrectly. So I fixed that, and added a couple more buildings. Finally, I added the bombed out versions that have the buildings with damage from the most recent rocket attack. Here's a dispatch from my layout: the train station, the Trackside restaurant and Valley Auto Repair shop are completely destroyed. A temporary train station has been erected adjacent to the remains of the original station. In town, a lot of the buildings have been hit, including Penn Tower and Nakatomi Plaza. Remakably, the trains are still running but it won't be long before we'll probably see wreckage there, too.
