    Ya I think I agree.
It seem to be more of an orange instead of red.

Not sure about the shell swap I know it's a real tight fit and a pain to remove.
Weathering could improve the look but I'm no expert with an airbrush.

Comparing it to prototype photos, the colour doesn't appear to be too far off.

    Moose's thoughts:
    - Put a coat of flat clear over it to dull it wee bit
    - Paint the railings to add the white at the ends and to darken the rest, give it a worn look
    - Blacken the forward-facing steps and exhaust stack
    - Add some colour to the trucks

    Thanks moose.
    It does have potential.
I'll live with it for another day and decide if it's a keeper or not.

Oops......I read leopard (tank) instead of Leopold.....my bad. Been an expensive week for me. The BLI n scale MRL SD70ACes came out (1 veterans tribute, 1 essential workers) and I picked up a Milwaukee Road SD7 from the swap meet here. Plus $100 worth of Caboose ground throws. Oh well......it's only money.

maybe weather it a little bit and accentuate some of the smaller details to break up the single color? The picture of the real train looks great imo but it's your eye it has to pass muster on (y)

I bought the Bachmann Thomas with Annie and Clarabel. Fun stuff! When my son was young, we'd go to the hobby shop and buy the metal Thomas trains for him, and if I had any money left, I'd buy myself another piece of rolling stock. Great memories. I'll probably end up getting them all at some point, but I have a couple of the BLI SD70s ordered, and will pick up a third one when I see it for sale. That'll kill the train budget for awhile.

I just installed the decoder so I guess I'm committed now.
I'll first start by painting the handrails as mentioned earlier.
That should make a huge difference.

Yes. The Atlas does look more realistic.

Bought a Unitrack double crossover. Then just ordered some further miscellaneous Unitrack wiring supplies.

Not just the black handrails, but the white stair rails too. While they are models of different prototypes, the Atlas has more detail. But, not sure about the scale of the air horns on the Atlas, or the shell height (note height of bottom steps between the two models, the Atlas bottom step is too high, yet the couplers are even with the LL).

    Both are nice models.
